Wild and Woolly Mammoths: Revised Edition (Trophy Picture Books (Paperback))

Great book. Bought it largely for the artwork as opposed to reading material as I am a grown man but I aspire to be an author and illustrator one day. The only thing I'd caution others on is the fact that an illustration toward the end of tgebook shows a mammoth carcass with the trunk cut off and lots of blood. This might be disturbing to some children. Otherwise though, great book about one of my favorite subjects and great pictures!

My 4 year old son enjoys this book. There are a few oddities about it (why do they start talking about the ice age and then show a picture of dinosaurs?) and some blood/gore as cavemen butcher a mammoth, but other than that it is a good discussion piece.

Some good info, but a bit violent which I didn’t know or I would not have gotten this for my kid. False information as well with the claim that mammoths were alive millions of years ago. Also, people were not the only cause of mammoth extinction, as is evident by the fact that perfectly preserved mammoth remains are frozen in permafrost. Still a decent book though.

I looked and looked for a book about wooly mammoths after my 4 year old grandson learned about them in preschool. He really loved this book. He told me it was very exciting! He loves informational books and this fit the bill.

The book was the perfect gift to go along with the wooly mammoth Beanie baby. The little boy that I bought it for loved all of the facts and pictures in the book.

This book encompasses man as hunter, diversity of species, extinction, scientific inquiry --while being firmly grounded and tangible. The phrases are broken up on the page the same way that I pace the story when I read aloud. The explanations and transitions are clear and logical (except the second page which abruptly mentions the dinosaurs and then bounces back to the Ice Age again.) Wonderful book for curious minds.

Material in book is good - unfortunately seller did not mention book had several pages with scribbling and outlining pictures of mammoths.

Great book to go with the wooly mammoth toy. Gave to my grandson for Christmas and he has played and played with theim.
