It has a bit of trouble staying inside the bell, but otherwise a wonderful piece of equipment!

Bought this for my 12 year old burgeoning trombonist after watching several YouTube videos on various mutes and listening to the sound. This adds another dimensions to her expressiveness on the instrument and makes it a lot more fun. In a way, it's a bit of a gimmick, but she loves it which means that she's practicing more which I consider a win for the team. It has a slightly metallic sound which varies when you place your hand over the opening, allowing you to make the instrument "speak". Highly recommended for those who want to add expression to their playing.As for the quality - it's top notch. Pricing is competitive. The fit on our instrument isn't awesome, so I may buy some pieces of cork to modify the insertion shape and make it fit more snuggly.

I am a member of a public university's top Wind Ensemble on trombone. As a part of our program for an upcoming tour, we needed harmon mutes. As I planned on playing for many years to come, I sought a reputable quality mute to invest in. This mute fit that bill perfectly.The resistance the mute adds when playing is inherently noticeable, but if proper air is put through, the response is pure and vibrant! I had no serious tuning issues or difficulty playing with this mute in.As far as functionality, the cork on the mute, after several months, is still holding up very well, and the mute itself has survived the tour with virtually no dents. The stem can be removed and replaced with ease, and is a perfect fit.Thank you for a great product!

It’s what I expected

Surpassed my expectations. Excellent quality, sounds great. Excited to use it in an ensemble. The first Harmon mute I’ve ever owned, it does take a little more effort to push air through it than other mutes, but it’s all worth it for that unique wah sound. As a jazz musician, this was a must have.

The is a very good looking mute and provides a unique sound which is perfect for songs such as "Harlem Nocturne". The only negative is the warp-around cork does not a good job of holding the mute in the bell. The 3 strips of cork found on other mutes is much more effective in keeping the mute in the bell.
