Well Built, But Not OEM
I bought this on a warehouse deal for a very low price when the bearings on my factory alternator started to get dry and noisy. I work on pretty much everything, alternators included, and this was purchased as a temporary substitute while I tore my factory one down for rebuild, and to have as a spare after that. My Suburban came with a 160 amp unit, and I knew that this was a 145A, but I don't tow with this vehicle much so the extra 15 amps wouldn't be missed (trailer lights, trailer brakes, etc.). This unit arrived quickly and mounted up no problem, but it had a bad regulator right out of the box (that explains why it was on warehouse deals, probably defective from the factory and returned). So I swapped my good OEM regulator in and down the road I went with my "new" alternator. It has done a pretty good job, with a couple of gripes. 1. While being the same frame and mounting as the factory unit, it caused a little belt squeaking at cold startup because the drive pully is slightly misaligned. I measured and it's about 1.5mm more forward than the factory alternator pulley, and of course isn't adjustable rearward. A bit aggravating, but not a deal breaker. Forward adjustment, if that were what I needed, could be achieved by shimming the alternator frame rear bosses where the mounting bolts go through. 2. While my factory alternator holds full charging voltage (13.8-14.6V) at idle with headlights, radiator fans, blower motor all running, this one doesn't match that performance. Voltage at idle with this one tends to decay when idling with those same accessories running, dropping substantially below 13V. It's a bit unnerving and quite noticeable. It tends to engage fully with charging output between 1100 and 1200 RPMs. Again, it hasn't been a problem, but is my observation that I thought you'd want to know about before purchasing. That being said, I should share that I've installed several DB Electrical alternators over the years and they've overall been great. Very high quality construction, all new components, and a very good price point. I'll likely never recommend or buy another rebuilt unit from an auto parts store unless it's an emergency and I need it right now. They're notoriously of poor quality and rarely last very long, and the pricing is sky high by comparison. My conclusions: OEM is best if you can stomach the price. If not, these DBs are a reasonably good substitute, but your results may vary. Coming in last are the parts house rebuilt ones.I put about 11,000 miles on this alternator because I didn't quickly get around to rebuilding my factory one. It has done the job and that's what I needed. Yesterday I installed my old OEM alternator with fresh bearings, brushes, and regulator, and it's doing great once again. This DB unit will be my spare now, and I'm happy to have it.

all around a good unit
The unit fit great and so far works good. My fault for not purchasing a higher amp unit.
