Havily ammo dependant on that catogory (marshmellows vs steel ball bearings) it is quick to see the sling shot has a spectrum of desstrucion which ranges from comical to someone off to a hospidal or a local dead animal noone is willing to clean up (looking at you suburbia) its not your 19.99 one you buy from nerf either that you really cant figure out how to even make it shoot..... I was shooting a bolt action .22 caliber rifle with a scope at that age... With adult supervision. By 12 years old, I was shooting a 12 Gauge shotgun without supervision. Train and trust your kids. They will become better adults. **Q: can it kill small animals** A: YES! I got a fat rat killed with a single shot from a 20 or 24 feet distance. This was the reason I bought and it did not disappointed me. I am sure it will kill other animals like birds, rabbits and squirrels. Check your local laws. I hope you don't intend to kill any small animals with this. (except pest like rats). Contrary to the other 2 comments. I bought this slingshot and never had a chance to try it until I got the opportunity to hit that rat and only took me 2 shots to hit it (first shot missed by inches, second shot hit the target). I must mention that I have no "skills" and those 2 shots were the first 2 shoots I took since I was 11 years old! so, 25 years have passed since I used one until that time. I don't know what is the other reviewer talking about when he says you need some degree of skills and have own at least 4 of these and practice over the years and change bands etc, etc. As you can see, this is a simple tool that anyone can use. No skill required. Just need to be careful as this small tool is dangerous if you hit a person by accident. **Q: Would this work with paintballs? If so is there a specific type/size you'd recommend?** A: I use it to launch small tennis balls for my small Dog. I am fairly certain it would work for paintballs, but if you have a choice in size get the smallest paintballs possible. **Q: what kind of ammo should I use with this slingshot? I see there're 3/8 and 1/4 on amazon.** A: 3/8 is obviously a larger shot and has always work best for me....but weather you use 3/8 or 1/4 they will both will work just fine ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ One of most important tools to understand and enjoy no matter your age *by C***Y on December 7, 2017* One of most important tools to understand and enjoy no matter your age.
