Review: Very good tool for IASTM - I'm a physical therapist and I do soft tissue work on my patients. With that being said I use the Edgeility tool for instrumented assisted soft tissue mobilization and I have found that it works very well and patients improve in their range of motion quite rapidly with this tool. This is one of the more cheaper tools out there but the quality is just as good as all the expensive tools from other companies. Dr. E's blog is great and very helpful. Review: ... did not feel that the plastic used was a good material, I am partial to the Graston instruments ... - I did not feel that the plastic used was a good material, I am partial to the Graston instruments and other well made stainless steel IASM products. This is not one of them sadly. I felt flimsy and I did not het the sense of it breaking up and adhesions. The vendor did take the product back. I am sure that their metal version is probably a better product.

Go for the metal version
I have several co-workers who use this tool to do soft tissue work on their patients, so I decided to jump on the bandwagon & order one for myself. In my typical frugal self, I decided to order the less expensive plastic version. While still durable, I do wish I would have just splurged and paid twice as much for the metal version, which is obviously more durable, of a greater quality, & has a better feel. I have only used this on myself (for my own plantar fasciitis issues) & it is certainly smooth to use & is far more comfortable on my poor little thumbs. I have not used it on any of my patients yet (Iโm a PT) because a truly feel I am more capable of identifying certain tight & restricted areas of soft tissue better with my hands/thumbs than I can with this tool & I can better adjust the amount of pressure I should use. Ask me in a few more years โ when my thumbs start to give me issues โ and I might change my mind! Overall this is a nice product & I know several people who swear by it. Despite my frugality, I would recommend the metal version over the plastic version.

Bought this one and returned it for the metal one. If your debating between the two just pay the extra for the metal one. Definitely worth the extra 60-70 bucks.

Affordable and Versatile Tool for Soft-Tissue Mobilization
The EDGEility tool for IASTM (Instrumented Soft-Tissue Mobilization) is an affordable, light weight tool that easy to use. The various edges or sides of the tool allow for different options of either lighter and more superficial skin work (with the sharper side), and deeper work (more for muscle tonus reduction) with the duller side. One can even wedge in between hand or foot joints to treat the deeper intrinsic muscles. There are many options and hand hold positions with this tool, all which allow a therapist or clinician to maintain a relatively neutral wrist position; a big plus to avoid wear and tear on the therapists body! Erson Religioso, the physical therapist who developed this product, has done a great job helping to educate therapists and clinicians that IASTM doesn't have to be performed with overly expensive metal or plastic devices; At under $50, this device costs peanuts compared to other more popular brands. Of course if one wants a metal tool, which does give a different feel, you could look at the stainless steel version of this tool called "The Edge." I am going to picking up one of those as well since I've been very impressed with this plastic version.

Works for most body surfaces
I like that the edge tool has a sharp edge and a beveled edge and several different shaped surfaces. I use it on fingers, hands, wrists and arms at the hand therapy clinic where I work. I store it in the bubble wrap that it came in because I noticed it gets scratched otherwise. This works much better than the plastic one. I can actually feel the vibration through this when I assess the patient. I could not feel the vibration through the plastic one.

Plasitc, not metal
I did not realize it was plastic. Should have read more on the product. Ordered the metal one for 50$ more.
