Quality has dropped. They don't work like their former ones
8-23-20, 3rd purchase and review of this item. As with everything anymore, the quality has dropped, and the product is now useless. The plastic is stiffer, and the black rubber grippers are now a hard plastic that has no grip. Even though these were pricey, they used to work, so I made sure to order from the same place each time. Waste of money. Updating this to 5 stars, even though I just had to replace the first one. It broke in half after a couple of years of daily use. The next three days were miserable, as I waited for the new one! I have determined I cannot survive without this amazing little tool in my filter box! Got my new one, and life is good again!Ok, at first I thought it wasn't working, but once I learned how to use it, it's great. Filters come out perfect. I just had to learn to push down as I pinched it together.

Junk
Does not pick up a filter. Completely useless and a waste of money. I have had one in the past that worked great! This one look like my old one but doesn’t pick up anything.

The new tips don't work!
This is my second one. After a year the first one broke in two pieces. But I liked the way it worked. After reading recent reviews I found some complained that the rubber tips didn't grab the filters, simply sliding across it. I decided to take a chance and ordered a new one. When it arrived, I tried it and found it wouldn't pick up a filter. Examining the tips, I saw that they have changed to a harder rubber! Evidently they haven't even tested their new supply of tips! Thanks to those previous reviewers, I saved my broken one,and removed the old tips. They came off quite easily, but removing the new ones was quite difficult due to the much stiffer rubber. With the old tips on the new one it works as good as the old one. Wouldn't recommend buying this if you don't have old tips like I did! Would give it one star if a first time buyer.

Wish I had read the reviews before buying!
Just as so many others said, I too used these for years and they worked great. We hadn't had one in a while so I ordered a new one. It works nothing like the old ones did even though it looks exactly like them. It will not pick up the filters. We were very disappointed because the old ones work so well.

Love this thing but it is a tough love
Since this is the only model I have ever found, I am getting my third one. They eventually break but still worth it to me. They are not the easiest to use but the reason we are buying them is because getting filters separated is difficult. Still difficult but less so. The first week of ownership is a tough one and you think you have wasted your money. My advice is keep trying. I have not figured out if you learn how to use it or maybe the rubber tip maybe gets rougher and makes it work better. The technique I have found works for me is a dragging motion to get the filter to "pop up" then the squeeze and grab. Don't stick it in a drawer right away but try it for a few weeks. It gets way better than the first attempt.

Waste Of Plastic
I agree with the buyer who tried everything to make this small piece of junk work. Try it wet,dry or any way possible. It does Not separate coffee filters. Watch the true video that's posted. It does not work plain and simple.

Useful device
Works like a charm! Not really a necessity but saves some early morning frustration.

No grip, just doesn’t work.
The composition of the rubber must be different, our first one snapped after a few months, but it worked well. I reordered and found that this one does not grip at all. Will have to find another supplier.
