Actually there was a really minor dent on one side if you look hard enough but a LOT better, by far, than any other shipment of this kind of cabinet I ever got. All the parts were there, it all fit together just fine and it works exactly like it is supposed to. I also have to comment that Bison Office promptly answered every question I had and sent very clear instructions about how to inspect the shipment, who was responsible for what, how it was sized and how it would ship. I saw a couple of reviews about damaged shipments but I had no trouble whatsoever. I know this model is about 30 percent more expensive than the very cheapest model but this is very well made. I am very surprised as I was pretty worried about it. I'm glad I paid a little more to get a quality product that will last.

There was absolutely no padding around the metal base & the box was banged up when it arrived. All sides of the base & the 2 shelves were dented. Returned for a refund and ordered from a different company. The drawers, on the other hand, were well packaged & arrived on a palette. Everything works perfectly with the flat file drawers!

Despite there being no visible damage to the shipping carton, the file cabinet arrived damaged. It obviously was this way when packaged; there is no way this could have happened inside the carton without any damage to the carton. Having to re-package it and haul it outside for the pickup (in six days!) hurt my back. Unbelievable! Please think twice before ordering any SafeCo item!

When they hand you this box off of the Fed Ex truck, it is long and flat.When you get it into the house and open it up, you have ( 2 ) pieces that look like the letter "H" but one side of the "H" is shorter then the other.And you also have 2 long flat pieces that make up the shelf and the backings in a " L " shaped configuration.It all connects together with ( 4 ) screws on each side.( 1 ) screw at each tip of the " L ". And ( 2 ) screws at the base of the " L ".I recommend using 2 or more people to put this together.The pieces are oddly shaped, there is a lot going on, and when you are trying to screw a " L " shaped object onto a awkward sideways " H " shaped object it creates a situation where you have ( 3 ) pieces of sharp metal temporarily in place as one hand is holding a nut in place in a very tight spot while your other hand is working the Phillips Head trying to get some torque.In my experience, the whole thing came crashing down and my thumb got caught.Which resulted in a 15 minute break over the bathroom sink and a raiding of the first aid kit.After that I enlisted the help of the wall for balance and got it all together.My thumb is almost healed.And the shelf of this base provides a lot more room then I expected from looking at the picture.Very Solid.

The file was well packed. Overall, the product quality is commensurate with the price. There are better flat files on the market, but not at this price. I'm very pleased with the four Safco flat files that I've purchased.However, I also agree with another reviewer that the base came poorly packed and consequently arrived damaged. I managed to correct the damage with a pair of pliers, some spray paint, and some effort. But this is clearly not optimal, to say the least.

I've purchased two of these monsters to store a growing collection of prints and art made by my wife. My biggest gripe is that the manufacturer has painted the entire unit including the wheels on the drawer slides. After a few opens and closes the paint on the wheel flakes off and has produced lots of little paint specs all over the place. I'm slowly vacuuming them up over time and I suppose eventually the paint will fully come off and leave the stainless wheel smooth as originally intended.

Unlike other bad reviews I had no issues with shipping or missing hardware. Easy to assemble and works perfect for my Safco 4996 flat file.

Product arrived in good condition, but was missing the hardware. Otherwise, very happy with the item.
