Learn Acrylics Quickly (Learn Quickly)

This is well illustrated and colourful, with lots of ideas. I would recommend this for beginners and those with a little experience.

I’m thinking of getting some acrylic painting done, with very limited prior experience. This book has provided a very useful starting point. Not always as detailed as it might have been, but It does encourage the need to experiment and develop a personal style. Some links to recommended supplies company’s would have been useful, or an accompanying pre boxed set of suggested starter colours, sold in conjunction with the book. That said a suggestion of key colours is contained within the text.

What a great book!! Simple, not over technical, doesn’t waste over a third of the book on materials. Just straight into work! With definitely be looking at Soraya’s other books!!!

Quick read and gives a good understanding of using acrylics, types of paints, papers and brushes. A couple of step by step projects.

Initially I was surprised how small it was but it actually covers a lot about acrylics, how to use them and some good ideas to start you off.

This book is more of a description and introduction to different types of acrylics, ie Learn About Acrylics Quickly, rather than an in depth instruction book, ie How to Learn to Paint with Acrylics Quickly, in my opinion. Having said that, it is a very nice book. It is lovely to look at, with lots of pictures, especially of flowers, with colours that are very appealing. Rather than instructing "you" on what to do, she speaks of what "i" did, but sometimes this is a bit too generalised to help instruct beginners on how to do it. If you do want to try these pictures as a beginner, you may have to buy more than one type of paint or ink, capable of producing lovely pictures, but potentially a little expensive for some just starting out, especially as she really recommends the most expensive ranges in order to get the effects.

This little book is a work of art on its own. Nice clear instructions and text and lots of colour. Would make a lovely gift.

Gift for painter and she loved it

I bought this book based on the reviews, and multiple readers noting that it is a “must have”. I am annoyed. The book is small..like a children’s book. It is perfectly delightful. The artist is clearly masterful. The book is thoughtfully composed, and beautiful. Being an absolute beginner myself, I appreciated the survey of equipment and techniques, BUT…I don’t feel this book set me up to start painting. I needed something more elementary… something that showed me step by step how to create a painting. I preferred another book by Mark Daniel Nelson “Learn to paint in acrylics in 50 small paintings”. In short, terrific book, but don’t feel compelled to buy it simply because everyone thinks it’s a must have :).
