🦅A Patriotic Collector’s Piece Worth Displaying – More Keepsake Than Workhorse 🦅
Every review is personal—what stands out to me might not hit the same for someone else. Most of my ratings tend to fall in that solid four-star range when a product performs exactly as described but doesn’t necessarily redefine the category. For something to earn five stars in my book, it has to go above and beyond expectations in a noticeable way. With that said, this one lands comfortably in that strong four-star territory. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ As someone who receives a variety of products to test, I had the chance to check out the Dispatch 250th Anniversary Folding Pocket Knife Gift Set, and right from the start, it’s clear this is something a little different than your average everyday carry knife. 🎁 First Impressions – Presentation Matters The first thing that really stands out is the presentation. This isn’t just a knife tossed in a box—it’s a full gift set experience. The packaging feels premium, well thought out, and designed with collectors in mind. You get a display-ready box, a commemorative coin, a cleaning cloth, and a storage setup that makes it feel more like a keepsake than a simple tool. If you’re giving this as a gift 🎁—especially for someone into American history, military appreciation, or patriotic collectibles—it absolutely delivers that “wow” factor right out of the gate. 🔪 The Knife Itself – Looks Over Utility (In My Opinion) Now let’s talk about the knife. It features a 3Cr13 stainless steel blade with a blackened, stonewashed finish that gives it a rugged, aged look. Visually, it’s sharp—no pun intended. The finish adds character and fits perfectly with the whole commemorative theme. The knife uses a manual thumb-stud opening, so there’s no spring assist or automatic mechanism here. It’s straightforward, simple, and sticks to a more traditional feel. The liner lock engages securely, and everything functions the way it should. The aluminum handle keeps it lightweight, and the included pocket clip makes it technically usable for everyday carry. That said—and this is just my personal take—I see this knife as more of a display piece than a daily-use tool. 🏆 Collector Value – Where This Really Shines Where this set really earns its value is in its commemorative nature. The included 250th anniversary challenge coin adds a nice touch and reinforces that this is meant to celebrate a milestone, not just slice open boxes. This feels like something you’d: Display in an office or collection Gift to a veteran or history enthusiast Hold onto and eventually pass down There’s a certain sentimental value here that goes beyond just functionality. 🇺🇸 ⚙️ Build Quality & Feel From a construction standpoint, everything feels solid enough. The materials are decent, and the knife operates as expected. It’s not what I’d call heavy-duty or built for hard use, but it doesn’t feel cheap either. It sits in that middle ground where: ✔️ It’s well made for what it is ✔️ It functions properly ❗ But it’s not something I’d personally rely on for demanding tasks And honestly, that’s okay—because I don’t think that’s the purpose of this piece. 📏 Size & Carry At around 6.5 inches closed, it’s compact enough to carry if you choose to. It’s not bulky, and the weight is manageable. But again, for me, this is something I’d rather keep in its case or display box than toss in my pocket for daily use. 💲 Price vs Value At around $49.99, I feel like the price point is fair for the quality you receive, especially when you consider everything included in the set. You’re not just buying a knife—you’re getting: A themed collectible A commemorative coin Presentation packaging A piece that feels gift-ready If you’re looking strictly for a hard-use EDC knife, there are other options out there. But if you’re buying this for its symbolism, presentation, and collectible appeal, then the value makes sense. 👍 ⚠️ A Few Things to Consider Better suited for display than heavy use (in my opinion) Not a premium steel if you’re focused on performance More about presentation and meaning than utility 🏁 Final Thoughts The Dispatch 250th Anniversary Folding Knife Gift Set is a well-presented, meaningful collectible that leans more toward display and sentimental value than everyday functionality. It looks great, feels well put together, and makes for an excellent gift or keepsake. While it may not replace your go-to work knife, that’s not really what it’s trying to be. For me, this is something I’d proudly display—and eventually pass down. 🇺🇸 Strong four stars from me. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Dispatch Store: 250th United States Founding Anniversary Commemorative Folding Knife Gift Set
Dispatch Store: 250th United States Founding Anniversary Commemorative Folding Knife Gift Set This product is a folding single-bladed pocket knife. This knife is a 250th Anniversary Commemorative of the founding of the United States of America. Consequently, this knife has design elements which emphasize the anniversary. The handle of the knife has a modern United States flag motif, a “We The People…” reference from the preamble of the United States Constitution, and a large “250 Years” citation noting the anniversary on the left side of the knife’s handle. The left side of the blade contains a reference to “1776” and a script rendition of “America”. The right side of the knife blade and the handle do not have any additional decoration elements. The knife is delivered in a presentation-type gift box that has a magnetically closed lid and which has American history design elements. The knife is accompanied by a 250th Anniversary commemorative coin that contains patriotic symbolism elements and is very nicely created. Both sides of the coin have multiple areas that have different colors inlaid into areas of the coin. This resembles the “Cloisonné” process where colored glass powders are actually fused into a solid coating on the base metal. That said, there is no indication on the product’s Amazon page as the actual process used to create the colored sections of the coin. The coloring could easily be applied in several other methods including a painting process. It really does not matter as the coin is a nice-looking piece. The box the knife is presented in is a high-density fiber-based product with a wood-grained vinyl covering. The lid of the case has a large rendition of the front side of the commemorative coin discussed above. The inside of the case is lined with a high-density Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA) polymer foam sheet to securely store the set components. There is a soft cleaning cloth included in the case and it has a cut-out section in the case foam for its storage. The knife is measured as 8.0-inches long (203mm) when opened and 4.6-inches long (117mm) when folded for carrying. The shortest measure of the blade when opened is 3.6-inches long (91mm). The knife blade spine has been measured at 0.1055-inches thick (2.67mm). This knife weighs 144 grams (5.1 ounces). The blade has a medium width, is configured with a drop point design, and utilizes a flipper lever with a short section of jimping for opening the blade. The blade incorporates two thumb studs for opening, one on each side of the blade. The blade has a relatively short ricasso with a finger choil on the opposite side of the flipper lever. The blade incorporates the patriotic design mentioned above on the left side of the blade along with the manufacturer’s name (DISPATCH®) which is placed upon the base of the blade. The color of the design is a very dark gray, nearly black in color. I am not sure of the process used to apply these images but it looks like some sort of oxidative process or possibly a high-tech paint process. The blade shows the linear lines of the grinding process used on the flat portions of the blade while the hollow-ground sections have a matte finish that the product’s Amazon page refers to as a “Stone Washed Finish.” The handle of the knife is all stainless-steel with a the same “Stone Washed Finish” as seen on portions of the knife’s blade. The left side of the handle is actually two layers of steel while the right side is a single piece of steel. The two sides of the knife are screwed together using recessed, round headed Allen-type screws and bolsters to set the needed space between the two sides of the handle. The right side of the knife has a belt clip mounted at the extreme end of the handle with round headed Allen-type screws for a very low pocket-carry profile. The handle of the blade has the above referenced colored imaging which appears to have been applied through a process resembling a silk-screening process. This knife blade is made, according to information provided on the product’s Amazon page, from “3Cr13 stainless steel.” Despite my many years in the Chemistry and Engineering fields, I had never heard of this stainless-steel alloy before. My internet research provided the following information on “3Cr13 stainless steel.” “3Cr13 stainless steel is a Chinese-grade, cost-effective martensitic stainless steel known for a good balance of hardness (after heat treatment) and corrosion resistance, making it suitable for general-purpose, budget-friendly applications like cutlery and tools.” Furthermore, research indicates that the 3Cr13 stainless steel alloy contains about 0.3% carbon and 13% chromium with smaller amounts of other elements like manganese, silicon, and nickel. Additionally, the alloy can be heat-treated to achieve a hardness of 48 - 52 HRC and that it offers decent corrosion resistance in mild conditions, but is not as good as some other stainless steels. The product’s Amazon page indicates that the knife’s handle is made of “stainless steel” but the exact formulation is not revealed. This knife is a “Liner Lock” design. The liner lock is incorporated into the right section of the knife’s handle. The pivot point of the blade includes a polymer pivot bearing material so that the blade’s movement is smooth. The blade and handle of the knife incorporate a section of jimping on the proximal end of the blade spine above the thumb studs and on the distal end of the knife’s handle above the pivot point. The liner lock also has a large section of jimping provided. Additional jimping has been placed upon the top and the bottom sections of the knife’s handle at the far end of the handle. At the same end of the knife is provided a drilled lanyard hole, should the user decide to add a lanyard to the knife. This knife is of a medium size for a folding knife and it has some weight to it because it is made of stainless-steel. It has nice to have features including the thumb studs and the flipper lever. This knife is presented to the user in a very nice custom fitted case that would be perfect as a gift or presentation box. The box uses a magnetic latch to hold the case closed. Custom cut EVA foam material is used inside the box to provide a place to store the knife. This knife is a nice collector’s piece with its special case. The artwork provided on the knife’s blade and handle will eventually wear and will be scratched if the knife is carried and used on a regular basis. That said, the knife is a very nice product whether for Every Day Carry (EDC) or if simply purchased as a keepsake. The price of the knife is reasonable for the complete set for the 250th Anniversary of the Republic. I like the product.

Great idea, but….
I have another Dispatch knife that I was very impressed with, so I was excited to get this one. The concept is great. The image on the handle is really nicely done and is durable. The knife itself though is just ok. It is an assisted opening and works ok but is not real smooth. It is a liner locking mechanism and has a decent deep pocket carry clip that is good quality. The edge is not well done and I had to sharpen it myself to bring it to my standard. I thought the coin was a nice addition and the whole concept of the knife celebrating our 250th anniversary makes it a decent keepsake. The cardboard display box is pretty underwhelming though. All in all I would rate it about a 3 1/2 stars as the quality this company is capable of at this price point is better than this.
