Watchable But Nothing Great Sequel, Some Scenes Not Very Believable
Sicario: Day of the Soldado was okay, it's been a while since I saw the first movie and to be honest I didn't remember much of it, although when watching the special features where there's a lot of clips of it I did. Basically this one's plot is the Americans want to start a Cartel civil war in Mexico and plan to set things in motion by kidnapping a cartel boss' daughter. The daughter initially looked like she was going to be a really interesting tough character, when we are introduced to her beating up another girl in the school yard who according to her had called her a name. If you were a school girl would you really verbally abuse the daughter of a cartel boss and then fight her, I mean even if you win the fight, you or your family are probably going to end up dead. As the movie went on though, the daughter was pretty much a piece of furniture in the room, car, desert or wherever they were. You're waiting to see the old school yard, staring down the principal in his office (the Swede - Christopher Heyerdahl, now he would have made a good villain in this if they'd written him into the script, it would have been better). The ending was pretty unrealistic, distances aren't consistent for characters, especially injured ones who can make up massive distances traveled by cars on foot. It just seems cheaply made at times, such as there's scenes in a staff room with a heap of vending machines, but obviously there was no budget to fill them up. In the same room the "I want you to cut ties" phone call, two extras walk right to left behind the hallway window, one points to the ceiling, then moments later they walk by right to left again, pointing to the ceiling exactly the same.
