I purchased this book to accompany a course run by one of the authors, Prof Cooper, in Cambridge (UK) some years ago. I have been regularly performing CPET for the last 3 years having established a service with a colleague. This is still my 'go to' text book for cardio-pulmonary exercise testing. The book is arranged in a logical way and can be read on a page by page basis as it is in effect a standalone course on interpretation of CPET. My personal approach to teaching CPET is to recommend students to start with Will Kinnear's excellent 'Practical Guide to the interpretation of cardio pulmonary exercise testing' and then move on to Chris Coppers book. Wasserman's Exercise Testing and Interpretation is also an excellent work, although more complex- I suggest students to delve into that book after getting established in exercise testing. This book both explain the test in detail and offers a practical and well validated approach to interpreting and reporting exercise tests. This is a must have for anyone wanting to study CPET.

We have just set up a cardiopulmonary exercise testing facility at our hospital for pre-operative assessment of fitness for surgery. This book is readable and informative and has given us a solid grounding of the knowledge required, together with other reading of course. Recommended.
