New Balance Men's 813 V1 Lace-up Walking Shoe

I work in IT at a large university and spend most of my day running around the office putting out fires. I was looking for a shoe that essentially looked like a business casual office shoe, but had the comfort and feel of a sneaker. The New Balance MW813 is exactly what I was looking for, and I am extremely happy with my purchase.Pro's-The shoe is made of really nice leather and looks professional while offering the comfort of a walking shoe. I wear it with khaki's and polo or henley shirts and it looks nice. The brown SHARP!-It feels like you're wearing a new balance sneaker, it's the perfect blend of business looks with all day comfort.Con's-At first I found it to be a little narrow, but after a week of wearing them they feel perfect. Expect these shoes to take at least 1 week to break-in.

Bought the EXACT same shoes in 10.5 6e a week ago and they were at least almost a 1/2 inch wider with the top piece of leather that creates the space for your foot than the pair I received with this order! I could see the difference when I took them out of the box, but decided to try them on. No good, way to narrow.If you don't believe me look at the pictures. Yes, I confirmed I was shipped the "correct" or "same" size by comparing the labels.I have had so many problems with the consistency of New Balance width in shoes, and these were exactly what I was looking for stylistically, so I decided to hurry up and order a back up pair for future use.6e, I thought, was finally the proper replacement width for what used to be 2e or 4e (since sometimes they fit and sometimes they don't).But, now that I received two pairs of the exact same shoes within a week of each other, both from Amazon, I realize the consistency of New Balance has gone down the toilet!Well, I ordered a pair of M990V4 shoes in 10.5 6e at the same time as these, hoping to lock into a few pairs of shoes I could actually use for a while. Keeping my fingers crossed when those arrive!Can't believe there would be such a disparity between one pair and the other.

They are comfortable enough but none too attractive, like they're from the New Balance Herman Munster collection. Really shoddy product. The top seam of the leather on both shoes turned white in less than a month. Covered it with polish but white soon returns. Very unhappy. And trust me, they are way uglier than product photo lets on.

NOT 4E!!! And the right shoe was even narrower than the left shoe.New Balance has a severe quality control problem with width sizing. I believe their foreign factories are simply cheating, by not stopping the production line to change out the shoe lasts, and then labeling them as if they did. Why else would there be such a pattern of complaints from long term customers in online reviews complaining about 4E, which they have worn for years, being too narrow? Why hasn't NB's Quality Control dept. caught and corrected the problem? Are they merely incompetent, or are they on the take? Keep in mind, a 4E width is a measurement determined by the Brannock Device (that polished aluminum thing shoe stores use to measure customer's feet). It is not a vague relative size like "wide" or "narrow," it is a quantitative measurement. How hard is it for QC to take a set of calipers and measure the internal width of a shoe to verify the batch is properly labeled?I've been a loyal NB customer for decades. For years I could order NB shoes secure in the knowledge that they would fit. No more.New Balance needs to get this problem under control before someone files a class action lawsuit against them, or before some of their distributors sue them for too many returns.

I’m not sure how everyone thinks this is a comfortable shoe. It feels like you’re walking on a brick. There is no shock absorption. You get used to it after a while. The shoe around your foot is comfortable but zero shock absorption cancels that out. The leather is cheap pleatherish material and loses its form within days. This shoe is about the same quality as a 40 dollar Walmart shoe. The only differance is the Walmart shoe will have a sole that will fall off and this shoe has a sole that feels like a brick.

I like them but sole fell apart after 6 months

I have been buying MW812s for years for my walk to work. But they have been discontinued. I tried the MW813, which has the additional advantage of being available in this dark brown as well as black. I bought one pair of each. I ordered the 8.5D, the same size that I always ordered in MW812. They fit exactly the same as the 812, and as each other. Perfect. They were immediately comfortable when I slid them on, and on a three mile stroll through the woods. The only outstanding question is how well they wear relative to the MW812. For that you will have to wait. I like the color choices except for the stark white third option - I prefer the tan color previously available in MW812. Oh well, all things considered, a provisional two thumbs up.Update after 18 months: Within the first 6 months, the brown version of these shoes developed a split at a seam on the top of the shoe, as well as a rip on the upper near the toe. Terrible. I recall when I bought these there were some complaints on Amazon reviews of poor workmanship or poor materials, and I guess I have to concur that this seems to be a risk. On the other hand, I have been wearing the black shoes almost daily for 18 months, and no splits or rips have appeared. I'm just beginning to see some wear on the soles, so these are well used but still have some life in them. Overall, on product quality, I guess I am batting .500. Great for baseball, not so great for a consumer product. Sorry for the ambivalent review, but just trying to report accurately. Otherwise, all I can say is that when the time comes, if these are still available, I will probably buy another pair, hoping the bad pair was an aberration - as suggested by the overall very good reviews of this product on Amazon.

Overall a good shoe, looks mid way between a casual and a dress shoe. My only complaint is that the upper eyelets(lace holes) are extremely narrow. They are reinforced with a plastic covering so they can't be widened. This makes it difficult to get the laces through the first time, and nearly impossible to get them back through if you want to re-lace.

If you wear orthotics you should probably go half a size up or get the wide version or both. They are very narrow. I tried to return but seller ignored my request twice, and waited for the 30 day period to end to respond. Get your product from another seller unless you want to be ripped off.

Not sure if this is a second or not...they squeak when walking at times. This is the 4th pair of 813 I have purchased...need the walking angle for proper back posture.

I’m loyal to this product brand. However I think one of the shoe was defected caused a Bruise in my foot.I got a different style that I am using right now and I am pleased with the product.Very good brand

Wider than I needed (ordered send wide size) but so comfortable. Most comfortable sneakers I have ever owned.
