I'm not a scientist.
Hey beaker bros. I am a CNC machinist, and one of the machines we run at our shop is a big ol' CNC router that cuts out 4'x14' sheets of 1/2"-5/8" thick aluminum. On some of the corners, the feed rate and spindle speed do not mesh up that great, causing aluminum to heat up enough to braze itself right on to the end mill on the ramp cut.I heard from some old guys that if you soak an a steel bit in Lye, the aluminum will dissolve right off leaving you with a brand new looking bit. "Science?!?" I thought, "Well scientist's need beakers." Enter the corning pyrex beaker.I poured a mix of water and lye into the beaker, and walah. Brand new endmill.I couldn't have done it without you. Thanks Corning Pyrex.

I use it to water my dorm plant.
You might say, won't a cup do? But no, not for fern. I water him 350mL every 2 days or as needed due to temperature and humidity. Our friendship is coming along tremendously and I have not killed him yet.

It’s a great cocktail mixing glass with a Breaking Bad motif.
Oddly, this makes an incredible cocktail mixer. Super high quality glass can take hot and cold liquid. It’s basically what cocktail mixing beakers were modeled after anyway. And it comes with a looking glass that happens to make a perfect strainer. It also gives the bar a little Breaking Bad motif. The thing I like most is that it’s truly high quality glass and it cost significantly less than decorative cocktail mixing glasses.

Perfect for BMW Engine Oil and Additives
My BMW doesn't have an oil dipstick. Yeah, it's all electronic now and it can't take a measurement until the oil is at ~180F which takes a long time. Which means, if I underfill or overfill my engine with oil/additives... I won't know until my car has been running several minutes which in turns means some damage to my car. This is where to beauty comes in. I can accurately measure the perfect amount of oil every oil change I do myself. I never overfill, I never underfill. My oil change is now officially an analytical science to the precision of +/-100 mL of my engine fill capacity.Since it's glass, it's inert with everything I'm putting into my engine. Oil? Check. MoS2? Check.Easily the best purchase for my home garage needs since getting a jack/ramps and doing all my own maintenance.

Not dishwasher safe
I bought two of these to use as drinking glasses, thinking they would be super sturdy and last a lifetime. Unfortunately, the first one broke about a year after I bought it, and the second one just broke last week. I didn't drop them or mishandle them or anything, the first one just randomly came out of the dishwasher in pieces one day, and the second one came out of the dishwasher with a hole in it. I have never had this problem with ANY other dishes, so it's not like my dishwasher is particularly violent or anything!

Fun desk accessories!
I decided to have fun, and got these to use as pen and pencil "cups" on my desk at work. I have always had good results with Pyrex products, and these are no different - they are heavy weight, and the printing is level without skips or blank spots. They go well with the other sized beakers, as well as the apothecary jars that hold the binder clips, tape, etc.

Great for mixing cocktails
I use these beakers in the lab, where they are appropriate for handling all sorts of chemicals. However, I ordered this particular beaker as a cheaper alternative to crystal cocktail mixing glasses. For this purpose: it is sturdy and functional, it holds a chill well (I store it in the freezer), the volume is appropriate for mixing anywhere from 1-4+ cocktails at a time (Old Fashioneds, anyone?), and the top is exactly the diameter of a standard cocktail strainer. Perfect and cheap.

created a fun concept bathroom
I bought a petri dish to use as a soap dish, along with a flat bottom flask for a toothbrush holder, and this beaker for a glass. This, plus a Periodic Table of Elements shower curtain, created a fun concept bathroom.
