A nice book on topic of famimy complications
What is the parameter for a happy or an unhappy family? Who decided that in the first place? How does a parent decide which children to be saved and which one to let go of?This book by the author touched on the deepest emotions of all family members, be it mother, father, daughter, or sister. Every member has their perspective and I couldn’t ignore any one of them. Though the story kills its charm with the boring and easy climax, the book has a very interesting and indulging plot.Kate is sick and Anna is conceived as a cure for Kate. I know sounds weird, right? That’s what got me in the first place. The story has its share of small moments and large sufferings, writing is not so extraordinary but it will keep you hooked. It’s a weirdly catching plot, which will definitely make the reader ponder over so much.Sara’s character as a mother is a topic of discussion and I can guarantee you, that one can’t take a side. In the beginning, the story seems like an easy decision between right and wrong for me as a reader, but as I read further and got tangled between the web of the Fitzgerald family, I realized there is no right or wrong side, there never is, when it comes to family. After finishing the book, you will feel immense respect and love for your parents. Go and hug them.Loved reading it, the climax was a dud. It was like the author found an easy way out for herself. Campbell and Julia’s character was unnecessary and frustrating, which made the book lengthy. And at what peak of insanity do you have to be, to forgive your high school sweetheart for breaking your heart so badly after 15 years and be back with him again?

amazing
this 1 is probably the best novel Jodi Picoult has written.Anna has an older sister Kate who suffers from acute promyelocytic leukemia and Anna was brought into the world with the primary motive of helping her sister live. when Anna is asked to donate a kidney to her sister, she sues her parents for the rights of her own body.the story is beautiful and sad. the side characters' lives also add to the wonderful experience this novel has to offer

Awesome
I loved the book. The emotions are so beautifully depicted. All the characters are given equal importance and they tell their side of story very nicely. The ending was totally amazing and unexpected, I cried a lot after reading this book. I am a big fan of Jodi Picoult and this book in my opinion is a total masterpiece and one of the best books ever written by her. Thank you amazon for the proper packaging and delivery.

This book broke my heart.
This book's gonna break your heart. It is a story of two sisters Kate and Anna... Very heart touching... I cried my eyes out at the end. But if I could read this book again for the first time I would do it in a heartbeat. Just don't forget to tissues with while reading it. You are going to need them.

Truly inspiring & heart touching
This book was stunning. In writing, in style, in plot, in character! It truly is one of those books that you really can't stop reading. Especially for me, because in a way it took me back to my Lurlene McDaniel days. Did anyone ever read her? She was always writing books about different teenagers and young children with terminal illnesses. I was addicted to those books. So it was no surprise when the young reader in me sort of jumped up when I saw a friend of mine reading this book and she described it to me.Boy was it a book well chosen. Picoult writes from the views of a few different key characters, allowing the reader to get an extremely well-rounded look at the story. At first the jumping from character to character is a little jarring and you have to keep reminding yourself that it's a new character, but eventually you get into the vibe of the book and wouldn't have it written any other way. The one thing Picoult does perfectly is make you torn. You really don't know who to support in a case like this. At times you find yourself leaning towards Anna, and other times wanting desperately to shout your support for Sara, the poor mother in this situation. With the readers information of other characters points of views and knowledge, the whole case is a lot more difficult to have a desired verdict towards. In the end a decision is made, a decision that, while reading the book, I was constantly wondering what Picoult was going to do, because either way one fully supported side was going to lose. But the way she really ends the book puts results to rest in a solid, yet emotionally unsatisfying ending. The ending it by no means bad, quite the contrary it was beautiful and settling, but at the same time you don't know whether to be relieved that there was an extremely closed ending without debate, or to cry. I won't tell you why, and I may have said too much already. But this book is just incredible and I highly advise you try to read it as soon as possible.

I’m now a Jodi Picoult fan
This book is so well-written, I couldn’t put it down. A real-life moral dilemma and a twist ending that shocked me.

Think while you read!
I must have read at least half-a-dozen of Jodi’s books now. I keep buying more simply because she is such a good, and reliable writer. This book covers the same essential topic as does Kazuo Ishiguro in his ‘Never Let Me Go’ but, whereas the characters there simply accept their lot (and make it even more terrifying as a result), here you see the emotional turmoil and repercussions for each of the participants. Her novels are always meticulously researched, so that the details of even obscure aspects seem totally accurate. Most cover some topical issue whose morality you may not have questioned. Through her characters, she investigates all sides and may easily change the way that you have thought about it. Most also deal extensively with a court case addressing an aspect of the subject being considered – and her coverage of this material is invariably convincing.Yet all of this is almost incidental. Her writing easily involves you in the emotional impact on each of those involved so that enjoyment of the story is primary (and achieved effortlessly) and the moral and ethical considerations apparently relegated to second place (but it can be guaranteed that it will make you think!)This is one of her best!

Heart-rending and beautiful
A beautifully written, sensitive novel with a helluva kick. Spoiler alert: Just when you think you know how it's going to turn out, Picoult turns all your assumptions on their heads. This is a book that gets the reader right inside the heads and the emotions of the characters and makes you feel what they feel. Every character is well-drawn and believable. Excellent!

Incredible page turner that will stay with you way after you've finished it...
I had already seen the movie and really, really liked it, although it did not receive great reviews. So decided to read the book and find out if it was as good. It was better. Jodi Picoult's My Sister's Keeper is brilliantly executed, it speaks truth to the hardships of illness, family sacrifices, and the extent one must go to for love. With Jodi Picoult as my favourite author, I understood that this book wouldn't be anything less than extraordinary. It takes readers on a journey through a wide range of emotions from wanting to throw the book across the room, to falling in love with the characters. The book deals with the problem of a sick child and the parents choices to lengthen her life. I cannot conceive of the choices that they made and for the first time found myself on both sides of the conflict without any resolution of who is right and who is wrong. This is very unusual in a book. While I did not agree with the choices that Sara, the mother in the story, made, I can certainly understand her need to do anything to keep her child alive. The fact that Anna, the main character, is existing in the world as a human life support at 13 years old is eye opening to the harsh realities that plague some families. At this young age she questions the value of her body, her place in the family and who she really is. This novel is an emotional roller coaster ride and often left me on the edge of my seat. It was impossible to put down and I was often in tears. I loved this book. I enjoy books written from several different perspectives like this one is. Hearing all sides of the family's story kept me turning pages. The book really makes you think about moral situations and what you would do. There is a twist at the end that I never saw coming. I highly recommend this, even if you've seen the movie.

Beautiful yet emotional
I chose 4 stars because in the first place it's a beautifully written book with deep emotion. I would not recommend this novel for youngster although it could show them a glimpse of reality and show them how other people live their life's. Has a Shocking ending which brought me out in tears..
