Get cherry.
I got the cherry 20Ă—15. Everyone gets maple, but the cherry is a wow.No knicks, dings, knots, nothing. The cutting board arrived in perfect condition. There were these foam corner brackets that suspended the board inside the box during shipping. I was worried about dings from some of the other reviews - there were none.It comes with a little pocket of oil too. I added the oil and creme set and plan to use them monthly as suggested. The creme is extra emollient for added conditioning. The 2 1/4" thickness is so substantial. Beautiful to look at, special to use. I'm super happy with this purchase.

Outstanding Value for a Handmade in USA Cutting Board!
I recently purchased the Boos 15" x 20" x 2.25" maple cutting board as a supplement to my Boos 12" x 12" x 1.5" board. The first thing to keep in mind is that you need to oil your board heavily when you first receive it with either food grade mineral oil or Boos Mystery oil (a mineral oil cocktail). Oil it until it stops absorbing oil, then apply the Boos board cream to all surfaces and allow to cure overnight. Wipe off all excess residue and your board will be ready to use, just reapply oil and/or cream as needed.I nearly purchased a 12" x 18" x 2.25" Boos end grain black walnut board through a chef's supply vendor but the price was a pretty bitter pill to swallow. As well, I realized that my knives have held up very well using the smaller edge grained maple board by Boos, though, I am sure that end grain boards may be easier on your knives. The 20" x 15" x 2.25" Boos cutting board is a winner on every level, it is well made, a great value and looks absolutely fantastic on the kitchen counter! Oh, it is rather hefty and not for the slight of frame. Persons of shorter stature may be better served by a thinner, lighter weight cutting board. This Boos, however, is great if you use a 10" chef's knives regularly, it just has the necessary real-estate to make food prep easier and more enjoyable. My set up includes: The aforementioned John Boos cutting boards, Boos Mystery Oil and Board Cream, and Zwilling Professional S and Miyabi 600 D knives.Pros:Big beautiful slab of mapleMade in USAEasy on your knivesRock solid build qualityNSF approvedPriceCons:Big heavy slab of mapleEffectively increases countertop heightVerdict:Perfect for the amateur chefYou need one, yes, you really do!5 Stars Plus!

Much better than plastic
Cutting on plastic cutting board gets plastic in your food! Wood is better for your health, just make sure to maintain the cutting board with mineral oil. This cutting board is good as you know what you’re getting with this brand.

Dad loves this
Bought this as a birthday present for my dad. It's great! VERY large and chunky. He loves to wax it and keep it clean. Ultimately it keeps your counters from getting cut by sharp knives. As advertised its nice. Not sure if the price tag it worth it. Only you can define how much you're willing to pay for a hunk of wood.

Packed well but...
still had damage, a small dent on the surface edge. I rarely get anything from Amazon thats perfect and that is the trade off of buying from them as opposed to in person where you can inspect the item first. The board itself is nice, thick, and looks good with an attractive grain structure. The size is good and usable, any smaller would make it less versatile. Very close inspection shows what seems like slight separation of the wood on one end. It's minor and possibly a non issue but I'm curious to see if it becomes a problem spot over time. Hopefully it lasts and doesn't crack.

Gorgeous, eventually
We had to order two of these boards. The first one arrived with 2 small nicks in the wood which were too deep to be easily sanded out. It also had two globs of glue running down an edge and one side of the board was quite rough and would have required sanding. The second one was in pristine condition when it arrived and definitely worth the money. After applying two coats of mineral oil, it is beautiful and I am glad we stuck with the product to get this one that I can be proud and happy to own.

Great quality!
This is a high quality board made in the USA. I love that the board is totally finished except for the sealant, which they do include in the package. So, you can choose to seal the board with an alternative oil/wax, like coconut oil, if you want to.

Love it
To me it was very expensive, but I knew it could last me forever. I love the size, its huge. Because it was very expensive I do take care to oil it at least weekly or more. LOVE it because we are Vegan and I cook 99% of our meals in our home. Great addition to our kitchen and very helpful tool for me.

Best cutting board on the market
This is now my 3rd John Boos cutting boards I have purchased. By far the best quality and butcher block style cutting board on the market and very well priced. Others are by far superior and more pricey. Highly recommend.

The product doesn’t match to the picture
The color is much darker than on the picture. The design of the board is square, not rectangular like on the picture.

READ THE MANUFACTURERS INSTRUCTIONS
It is a great board and anybody complaining about cracking and warping likely has not read and followed the instructions from Boos or done any research online. You need to buy board oil and do at least 2 applications prior to use, followed by a coating of wax. Store it upright and dry after cleaning, and reapply oil fairly regularly. It will last for years.
