Product description This is a very special case of 6 Carmenère DOC Piave 2018 harvested by hand at Dogarina winery. If you like a smooth, herbacious red, full of fruit and intense flavour then this delicious Gold Medal winner will be your new favourite wine. With a herbacious nose there are recognisable scents of hay and reed as well as peppery spice on the palate with a minerality that runs through it and a delicate after-taste of liquorice. Ruby colour. Aromas and flavours of pickling spices, cedar, pepper, and cranberry-tomato chutney with a silky, fruity-yet-dry medium-to-full body and a smooth, tangy long lasting finish with an elegant tannic structure of the body. A superb wine that will go great with a broad range of meat dishes and especially lamb. We find it wonderful just to drink on it's own. Antique vines, originally French, were mistaken for Cabernet Franc until 2008, the year in which it was correctly identified as Carmenère and assigned a DOC Piave. Matured for 12 months in French Barrique Barrels. An exceptional big redthat is pleasingly low in alcohol volume at just 12.5% . This wine ages beautifully in the bottle over 5 years and gets so much better each year! NOT CHILEAN
This is an Italian wine far less fruity much more herbal. If you want outright fruitiness buy Chilean wine. It's a matter of personal preference.
