## Questions & Answers

**Q: I have a tub surround to the ceiling that I would like to remove the grout. How long would you think it would take using this blade. Tiles are 3x3.**
A: Not enough information. Is the surround a single piece that' s grouted at the tub, is it made of large tiles, is it made of small tiles...? This blade is very efficient, but the time is going to depend on how many linear feet of grout you have to remove.A more relevant question is how many feet of grout will the blade remove before it wears out. That answer is also dependent on your situation. Is the grout sanded or unsanded? How wide is the joint, 1/8" , 1/4" , wider? (This blade will not work on anything narrower than 1/8".) How old is the grout?Sanded grout will generally take longer and wear out the blade faster. Older grout is frequently harder than newer grout. And note that the blade is rounded, so if you need to get into corners you' ll need another kind of blade for that, something like a DEWALT DWA4242 Diamond Flush Cut Oscillating Blade. On average, I' d say that one blade will do the line between tub and surround before it wears out. At the price, get a second blade and swap out as soon as you notice your progress slowing. If you use the blade past its intended life, you may get overheating marks on a porcelain tub or damage to a Corean tub. Ditto for " don't push". If you push, the blade will wear out faster and you WILL get overheating.

**Q: how thick is the blade?**
A: APPROX 1/8"

**Q: Will this cut brick?**
A: It depends on the brick, but it should at least make a line of some depth in most brick, especially 'clay' brick. If you need to cut refractory or porcelain coated,or just plain porcelain brick, it ought to work, but an ablating abrasive wheel would be a better choice, note that either will put out a goodly cloud of dust but the wheel will put out more and finer dust. Use a mask and cross ventilation for either process. A diamond blade will likely be a better choice, last a bit longer and cut more cleanly. Same warning about the dust!

**Q: Will this cut into concrete ? If so, what depth ?**
A: No, this blade is recommended for grout removal.

## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works very well
*by on Reviewed in the United States December 22, 2020*

I had to redo my entire kitchen floor grout. With as much time as I spent on my knees, I would expect a raise, but I digress...I bought this grout saw and the counter part "normal" dewalt multi-tool grout saw. I used my Dewalt cordless 20V XR multi tool (they fit fine). Of note, I started with a dremel brand grout blade that I grabbed at Home Depot, and it lasted about 15 square feet. I got both of the dewalts here for about the same money I spent on the dremel alone.Kitchen was about 400 square feet. I did 80% of it with this blade. After burning the dremel one up, I switched between this and the normal dewalt, but used this more because the shape allowed it to cut a wider swath with each pass. My grout must have been mixed poorly at install because I had sections that cut like butter, and others that cut like a diamond. Overall I was very happy with the performance of this piece. I applied more pressure and went slower on the hard parts and it would eventually get it out.I did split the blade like others have posted about near the end of the job, BUT I was clearly starting to abuse the tool. I was also easily 20 hours into the job at this point and at least 250 square feet of cutting. I started to torque it in the groove cut by the grout to clean the sides of the tile in one pass, and it started a split. I'm sure if I had not been more gumptious with it, I could have done the whole kitchen with it.Now, comparing it to the regular, straight blade, I cant say it cut any better. It obviously cuts wider, which sped things up a bit, but for the most part, they were equal in their performance.Hope this helps!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Long lasting - did not fit my Rockwell without some "garage modification"
*by on Reviewed in the United States February 7, 2026*

Did not work with my Rockwell tool without reshaping the mounting opening. This Dewalt lasted MUCH longer than the diamond blade I started with from Menards. Note that this blade is slightly wider than the ~1/8" diamond blades. Since my floor grout is nominally / generally wider than 1/4" I thought this blade would be better but in places my grout was narrow and i feared getting into the tile with this... it worked though. Overall, if this fits your oscillating tool, this cuts well and has lasted 2 to 3 times longer than my Menards diamond blade and is still cutting fine at the end of my project.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great oscillation tool grout removal blade
*by on Reviewed in the United States August 31, 2025*

Makes fast work for removing grout. Good price for quality product. Better than most blades I have used so far, lasts longer and cuts faster because it uses a saw-tooth style blade combined with abrasion finish
