Incredibles ... ready!
I don't have the first Incredibles novelization , but somehow, managed to pick this up during one of my novelization-purchasing-sprees. It's written by one of the regular Disney novelists, Suzanne Francis, she has written a few of them that I own now. She is good at adapting the movies, while still keeping it from just being the bare bones. There's not too much additional description, just enough so the scenes fly off the page.It is 139 pages, and the chapters vary in length. As with most Disney novelizations, it sticks closely to the film, and there is no additional scenes or dialogue. All the characters are well described, even if you haven't seen the films already, and there are colour photos included. Instead of just being scenes taken straight from the film, these are the kind of "hero" shots, with their strengths/weaknesses/notes listed below, and this includes the other superheroes that appear later on in the film. So it is more unique. There were times I was giggling like a lunatic while reading this, particularly when Jack-Jack comes into his powers. I was crying with laughter while watching the film, and Suzanne has done a brilliant job of describing this, so it still makes me laugh, even though I know what's coming. As it's one of the lengthier Disney novelizations, I would say it's perhaps for older kids - I think younger kids might struggle with some of the themes in it, but that's just me personally. Although if you're wanting to read it to/with your children, at least that way you can approach any questions they may have. (Maybe it's just me, but the hypnotizing scenes would freak me out if I were a child.)Another great Suzanne Francis novelization, although I sometimes do wish there was more background/detail included, but with an animated movie, it's not like you can include deleted scenes! first Incredibles novelization
