without this: Simplex - 303019 - Mounting Plate Assembly - 3000 Series - 1-1/8" Backsetyou cannot install the lock. Nothing in the specs indicates that is the case. Very disappointed to have a locksmith come out for the install that I had to pay a "per trip" charge to, only to find out this product description is deficient.

My lock has failed. I had a locksmith here. He said the main assembly is good, but the interior combination box has failed. The number 5 will not line up. I asked if I could do a combination without using the number 5 - and he said the 5 has to work to enter the OLD combination in order to reset it. I need a new internal combination box. It was installed in January. It lasted less than 5 months of use in an office of only 3 people. And Amazon is the seller - A product that normally has at least a 6 month if not 1 year warranty - and Amazon only gives a 30 day. RIDICULOUS!!! I learned a lesson. NEVER buy something that is expensive and needs to be durable through Amazon. 30 Day return window is not enough.

Very nice & sturdy. Only works with Write style latch, though. Will need to order that separate if you don't already have that style lock on your door & will need to cut that larger latch fitting. this will not work to simply add code for security.
