Great for exercise mixes and protein shakes
5 stars equates to "I love it" on amazon. I am not a professional reviewer. After reading so many reviews on Amazon I thought I would write a review for the casual purchaser-- like me. This is the first food scale I've owned. Thus, there will be no pros or cons just observations. Its small. It really can fit into a pocket. I personally like the small size. I use it to measure ingredients for protein shakes. A glass sets perfectly on top. And it does not take up much space in my cupboard. Pressing the Tare button does not effect the weight displayed of the items on the scale. The buttons are hidden into the base when not in use. They are easily accessed and spring out when ready to use. The power, Tare and other buttons are securely attached to the base and meet the counter perfectly so that when the buttons are pressed the pressure does not effect the items being weighed. It measures in increments of 1/10th of a gram. That is important to anyone measuring in small amounts. Most of the stuff I measure is 10-30 grams. The 1/10th increments really make my measurements very accurate. I have actually saved money by using this scale because of the 1/10th gram increments. The display is back lit with a blueish tinge. The readout number are about a 20pt. type size. Good enough for reading standing right beside it. It comes with a little plastic carry case that doubles as a tray to place items to weigh on the scale. I have never used it. I just place my container like my glass right on the scale. The scale measures up to 1000 grams. 1 kg is not heavy. But, it can accurately measure a 16 oz glass, the shake mixes and apple juice with out trouble.

I use it for weighing yarn & beads
Nice, lightweight, compact scale. Has 2 covers, one which fits over the pressure plate and a second which fits over the back of the unit with the first cover on, which protects against accidentally popping out the display/button arm. You can use both covers interchangeably as containers to weigh smaller items. Has a weight "limit" of 100g although it can be partially circumvented by using the tare function on a lighter item first (to begin with a negative weight), then weighing the heavier item. I imagine the accuracy decreases this way but it worked in my case as an adequate approximation (I was attempting to weigh something in the neighborhood of 150g). Due to its lack of heft, I would be concerned if you are the butter-fingered type, as I believe a good fall would likely cause irreparable damage. I keep mine in a desk drawer and strictly use it at my desk, so hasn't been an issue (yet. knock on wood.) For a scale that weighs in increments of 0.01g, this is wonderfully affordable and much more accurate than the scale I initially purchased a few years ago from a yarn retailer. I've used the covers as containers to weigh beads, small leftover balls of yarn, needles, etc. I have also weighed a large cone of yarn that set off the weight limit of the scale (see above). Weight displayed can be a little "bouncy" while an item is on the scale but this is typically within a few hundredths of a gram. I am mainly concerned with measuring the nearest tenths, so it has not been a concern. Plus removing and re-weighing items is always consistent, even a few days later, so I consider this scale quite reliable.

I use as herb/spice scale; I RECOMMEND! Was only off .02 w/out Calibration. I calibrated it now & it's SO ACCURATE (near 100%)!!
DATE: 8/5/2017 | UPDATE 1: So far, so good. I bought this for weighing cut up small herbs/spices in my kitchen. :-) Just came today in mail (8/5/2017)!!! Will update in the coming weeks/months/years. The most my "AWS Blade-100 Digital Scale - 100g x 0.01g" is off is when I weighed the brand-new 5g, 10g, 20g & 50g Calibration Weights. These Calibration Weights were only off like .02-.05g (and .04-.05g is rare since I've used the scale a bit more). A quick press of OFF and then ON again usually corrects it 100% to the correct weight or much closer (IE: .01-.03, at most). Buying this and a 100g and smaller Calibration Weights is a must if you wanna be totally accurate, although mine was only off .02-.03 after 5-6 tries with a 50g Calibration weight right out the box without even pressing the "TARE" button (calibrating it) and just pressing on and going form there on the scale without the tray. The tray works fine with it too! I recommend using the bigger tray every time (I get better results). I have heard this scale and any others like it suck down batteries (AAA) like CRAZY! Make sure to buy good, recommenced batteries (or just some really nicer than usual ones). My buddy does that with a different but similar AWS scale and his battery life lasts like, seriously, 6 months or so more than my identical AWS scale!! ;-) The battery life situation and not having a USB charger along with AC adapter for wall charging is the reason I ALMOST gave this a 4-Star Review. But, it is so almost 100% accurate with the tray, without it, with herbs/spices, calibration weights, etc. that it's perfect (almost)... and, for now. I WILL UPDATE THIS "REVIEW" DOWN BELOW IN A FEW DAYS/WEEK AT MOST! But, back to what I was getting at, they should at least have the "battery-less model" as an option, even if manufacturing it costs much more, I would've paid the extra difference in price even if it were $15 more... and, JUST for those two options on this exact scale! I attached some "unboxing" pics and some pics of me weighing Calibration Weights, etc! I highly recommend THIS scale to ALL!!! "Grade Score:" A. Seriously guys/gals, a GREAT little scale! | (I WILL update below in the future)..... - J.A. ________________________________ [I will update here...]

Little scale, huge value!
I already have a scale for loading ammo that is accurate to a grain (1 grain = 0.06479891 grams) but since I've moved, I can't find it. I figured I'd have to purchase another such scale, which is in the $100-150 range. Searching through Amazon, I was surprised to find this little gem for around $10. I'm using this scale to measure espresso coffee grinds. I'm looking to dial-in my espresso and by the book, a single-shot is 7g, double-shot is 14g, and a triple-shot is 21g. So my use is close to the low-end of this scale's range, which SHOULD suffer the largest amount of error. Granted, I did order the scale with a 500g and a 50g weights, so I can calibrate at the low and upper end of it's capabilities but unfortunately, the weights have not arrived yet and I'll know better when they do. So, my espresso machine and grinder have been making great coffee (mostly double-shots) but I wanted to know how much coffee I was using and to dial it in. I was wondering why I'm going through a pound a week, only serving about 4 cups daily. It turns out, my doubles have been dosed with roughly 20-ish grams so I dialed it down and adjusted my grind. Now, I get about the same results, using less coffee! My assessment on this scale's accuracy is as so. I would dial my grinder and grind what I believe to be a double-shot (14g). I weighed each shot. The scale is extremely consistent, unless the grinder is equally inconsistent at the same time the scale is. At times, I would put the entire portafilter on the scale which is roughly 500g (495-ish grams), hit the tare button, and I would still get my 14g of coffee grinds - every time. I went through about 3 kinds of coffee beans (brands and types) last night and this scale reinforced what I learned in barista school - that even a change in beans makes a difference in pose and grind size. So, not only is this a scale for weighing things, it's also a good teaching aide. I would give this product 5 stars, but I had to knock it down because the display does not open reliably. It would close with a click, but 9 times out of 10, I would have to pry the display open.

Sensitivity tests - acceptable tolerance of 0.2g
(Full specifications included below.) I chose this scale because I wanted an inexpensive, compact scale with a high capacity and at least 0.1g accuracy, and because the reviews looked good. I intend to use the scale mostly for weighing small bubble-wrap mailing envelopes and small shipping boxes, but I will sometimes need to weigh herbal supplements, and I need those weights to be accurate to a tenth of a gram or so. I was not sure if a scale with such a high capacity would be sensitive enough to measure small changes in weight, such as when I add a tenth of a gram of herbs to the weighing platform, so I also bought American Weigh's Chrome-201 (200g x 0.01g). With its help, I conducted some tests. This scale does sometimes report 0.1g changes in weight, but not reliably. It usually requires a 0.2g cumulative change to update the reading, unless I press on the scale or lift and replace the weight, which causes the reading to update and reflect the 0.1g change. The scale does reliably detect 0.2g changes in weight, even when that weight is added very gently and gradually. This is true whether the starting weight is near zero or near 1000g. The scale cannot detect a total weight of less than 0.2g (this is listed in the specifications). The work-around is to use a tray and zero-out its weight with the Tare feature. This scale has an "acceptable tolerance" of 0.2g, so that is probably the reason for these behaviors. I conducted my tests using powder (gently sprinkled), an eye dropper of water, and shreds of paper. I verified the readings with the Chrome-201. Both scales seem to be accurately calibrated, and usually gave matching readings (though they were sometimes off by 0.1g). The Chrome, by the way, exhibits the same behavior of updating the reading typically only when the weight has changed by at least 2 increments (0.02g in that case), and it only reliably detects a total weight of at least 0.05g. I have a few minor problems with this scale. See the CONS section below. AWS Blade-1kg Specifications: -------------------------------------------- Max Capacity: 1000g Min Weight: 0.2g Units: gram, ounce, troy ounce, pennyweight Acceptable Tolerance: 0.2g Calibration Weight: 500g (the manual and the scale itself reported this, and I successfully performed the calibration) Recommended Accuracy Class: OIML M2 Power: 2 x AAA (included - be sure to remove the plastic tab between the batteries and the contact) Dimensions: 0.8" x 3.8" x 3.8" Platform Dimensions: 2.7" x 2.7" Made in China PROS: ---------- Seems accurate, both by comparing to the CHROME-201 scale (readings usually match, or are sometimes off by 0.1g), and by weighing US coins. Readings are also reasonably consistent. The case and lid make good trays, and the case (being taller) can serve as a standoff for large items that would otherwise obscure the readout. Seems sturdy and the build quality seems good (for a cheap scale). CONS: ---------- The bottom tray/case fits so snugly that I can remove the scale from it only by holding the case and striking the heel of my hand sharply against a firm surface to knock the scale out of it into my other hand. I do not like doing that with something so delicate. The top tray/lid does not protect the weighing platform from pressure. It fits right against the platform and the scale will report weight when I press moderately firmly on the lid, even near its corners. And even though the lid fits within the bottom portion of the case, it sits higher than the top of the case and so even the case will not protect the scale from things being set on top of it. The swing-out unit would be better if it could swing out all the way so that it would be less easily obscured by large objects on the scale. When testing the scale's ability to detect tiny changes in weight, I found that the auto-off will activate even when there are small (0.1 - 0.2g) changes being reported in the readout at least every ten seconds. I assume this is because the scale has a tolerance of 0.2g, and so changes by no more than this do not count in the software as activity. I can prevent this by pressing on the scale periodically.

Four Years Later - Still A Great Espresso Scale!
I’ve been using this scale (1,000 x 0.1g) for four years without a problem. It’s my espresso scale - I use it to weigh out coffee beans before manual grinding and recently started using it to weigh espresso out of my Breville Bambino to decide when to stop the shot. Works flawlessly. The 1,000 g capacity is nice because I weigh beans by placing the grinder (Lido E) on the scale, taring it and then add beans to 18.5 g. The grinder weighs 990 g alone so the grinder and beans are just over the capacity but the scale doesn’t mind. The low profile and small foot print are great because I can fit the scale onto the Bambino’s drip tray under the portafilter, place a 10 oz cup on top, and still have a bit of clearance to check the extraction. Same as some more expensive scales. At one point the scale seemed to be turning off on its own which confused me. I realized that the batteries I was using were slightly small in diameter and thus could slip in the battery holder causing intermittent loss of power. I solved the problem by placing a small fold of paper between the batteries and the compartment cap. That holds the batteries in place & no loss of power. I travel with this scale in my “espresso kit” so it bounces about in an aluminum box without padding in the back of our truck for thousands of miles - seems to take that abuse just fine. So after four years I’ve decided to buy a second scale to have as a backup. If the first is any indication the combination ought to serve me for a decade!

Great travel scale for diabetics!
We bought this scale specifically to keep in my son's medical kit, and it's been great! He is a type 1 diabetic and has to weigh or measure everything he eats so he can take the correct amount of insulin, so a kitchen scale is a very important tool for him. The one we use at home is not appropriate for traveling, so this travel scale has been a great addition to his kit. Things we love: - It's very lightweight - The compact design allows this scale to fit easily into his medical kit (which is the size of a standard lunch box) along with the plethora of other supplies he has to carry with him - The price was good - He can flip over the clear plastic cover and use it as a bowl to hold small items in place as he weighs them - He can measure in ounces or grams Bummers: - One corner of the cover broke off just a few weeks after we got the scale. It's still usable - just a bummer that it broke so quickly. Of course, my son IS a 14 yo boy, so that might have had something to do with it. ;) - The battery compartment does not hold the batteries (two AAA's) securely. When we open it, the batteries pop out. It hasn't seemed to affect the way the scale works at all. It's just a weird quirk for now, but it may become an issue down the road. We'll have to wait and see. All in all, I'm very happy with this purchase and would buy this scale again.

It’s the best scale for the price point
As a marijuana grower and competitor in many nationwide competitions. I tell all resellers and even customers to purchase this brand. It’s rated very highly for accuracy. It comes with 2 trays to set product in to weigh. They also act to protect the scale. For the “price range” you can do no better.

Cheaters
They cheating... In product title says it operates up to 1 kg, but have sent another model up to 100g.. Later I look at description more careful and found the scale model is up to 100g, but it doesn't match the title..

Absolutely fantastic scale. Compact and light weight
Absolutely fantastic scale. Compact and light weight. In addition to the scale it comes with two plastic shells that cover your scale on the go and double as trays you can set on top, for liquids and small debris. It has several settings for weight and is consistent on its measurements. Really well made.

Buen precio, buena calidad.
