Metal Shims

These are ideal shim material for those that need or desire fork shaped stainless steel spacer solutions. I used the thickest shims in the bundle to level out plank across the oak bed boards on my custom built 55’ Chevy fleetside bed. Might also work nicely for aligning tubular control arms

Work as they should, sized correctly but the storage box and packaging are very cheap.

This review is for the "Shimeyao 80 Pcs Size A 2" x 2" Shim Kit Stainless Steel Slotted Shim with Transparent Storage Box Assortment Metal Shims for Leveling Shop Kit Replacement Pack". In need of some small gauge shims for your current or upcoming project. This assortment may be helpful. Right off I need to point out that most, but not all, of the shims are made with a notably ferritic stainless - which could still be 304 stainless steel with the ferritic trait introduced during the machining process. This could be a big issue of the shims start to rust. The shims, that I tested, are very close to, if not spot on, their stated thickness. I hesitate to say they are exactly as I used my trusty Harbor Freight caliper to do the measurements. To that end, it looks like this inexpensive caliper is fairly accurate! As is clearly stated in the listing these are slotted shims. It goes without saying that some people, in haste, may overlook that fact. There are 10 pieces in each of 8 sizes, each in a ziplock and labeled bag. Unlike so many other mixed lot packages there will be NO sorting through a jumbled mess of mixed up parts and pieces whose packing didn't survive shipping causing you to spend an hour resorting them. Then there is the price. Quality and accuracy isn't cheap. This package is a great price compared to a source like... McMaster Carr, where you would drop a LOT more coin for the same - upwards of 4 times as much! This is a reasonably high quality product and at the price, with free shipping, it is a very reasonable value.

Handy set of shims. I’m a bicycle tech-based vehicle designer/builder, and there’s nothing more maddening than getting the wheel alignment perfect in the frame/fender of custom/prototype builds. If you use washers, you have to pull the axle off the frame each time to add/remove them. Being able to slide the shims in and out simplifies this process tremendously! Note that these are NOT precision machined, there’s a tolerance of about +/- 0.03 mm. Shims arrived clearly marked, but for the price, I reallly wish they were better packaged, such as in a simple case of some sort, rather than mangled in plastic bags. (A handful of the thinner shims of various gauges arrived folded or kinked.) Of course you can also use them for levelling machinery in the shop as well!
