These are the only rolling pins we buy
We only a popular pizza restaurant and this is the only brand rolling pin we use. They get a beating with rolling out hundreds of pizzas every day and stand up to it. The weight is also perfect.

Best on the market--I tried three
This rolling pin weighs 3 pounds 6.7 ounces as compared to another one that was 3 pounds 1.6 ounces and another that was 3 pounds 12 ounces. The 3lb. 12 oz. was WAY too heavy when held away from my body in "rolling position:; it torqued my wrists. However New Star Foodservice pin was a good compromise: it was 5 ounces heavier but I LOVED the bearings in the shaft and that sold me even though it was heavier. The bearings are the smoothest you will find. The 3 lb 1.6 ounce one did not spin freely. In addition, New Star Foodservice is tight on the shaft. The 3 pound 12 ounce competitor shifted every time you rolled so it torqued your wrist even more than just the heavy weight. I LOVE this New Star Foodservice rolling pin. I bought all three 18" silver rolling pins that look identical but ARE NOT inside. I tried and weighed them all. I am picky about my tools. New Star Foodservice is the best and I was not paid to review this. I am a stat analyst and analyzing is what I do. :)

Huge difference from a standard old wooden one, love this!
This pin makes short work of rolling out dough, it's much easier then my old standard wooden one with less problems of dough sticking to it. I make lots of bread and some types need to be rolled out thin for filling and rolling up. Just a few passes and the job was done, I was surprised how much faster it was using this pin. Its not super heavy being aluminum but boy does it roll beautifully with no effort and very few passes due to it's large size. Was also wonderful for my strudel to get it to a point where I could easily begin pulling it paper thin. Makes baking a pleasure, love this rolling pin and I highly recommend it.

WORK HORSE!
This is a work horse.I have a hard maple rolling pin, one of the best and it is not as good as this. This thing is very non-stick, apparently aluminum is the way to go.I can roll out pie dough in half the time and with great ease. Why people use solid rolling pins"French" I'll never know .And I don't care how small or big you are get the 18 inch.If you are rolling out a 14 inch diameter pie crust you'll be able to utilize every bit of the rolling pin. If you're serious about pie crust,Danish pastries, croissants you name it this is the way to go.The only thing bad about this is where to store it. I drilled a hole in the handle so I could hang it from the wall.

Good if you don't actually use it for foodservice.
Great rolling pin if you only use it occasionally. Not heavy duty at all. Only 3 months and the insides are breaking down. Have been so careful about hand washing so no water gets inside and it's still falling apart.

Loved but had to return due to it's size!
We loved this but had to return due to the fact that we did NOT read the description past the "18 inches. Guess what? A giant box arrived which we all chuckled about and inside was this pin that had an "18 ROLLER. Add the handles on and you have one big mama of a pin. So lesson learned. ALWAYS follow the description down to the bottom of the web page so you know what you are getting. We had to take a couple bucks hit for returning it, (we've never had to do a return in all the years we've amazoned) which we weren't happy about but such is business.

Yes, it's large!
This is huge- and helps my husband roll out koldunai dough (Lithuanian dumplings) very evenly, without dragging his knuckles through the dough. Very easy to clean. Plan a storage place if you get the 18" version. Right now, we store it on the living room coffee table! I'm sure it would be terrific for folded doughs like croissants, too, so I'll get my turn to use it soon.
