very pleased with my purchase
i've owned 4 decanters and this is by far the best, here's why..not oversized - decanter is close to the height of my wine glass which at first seemed small but it holds a full bottle and fills to just over the top of the punt, compared to the ones i've owned with large round bowls on the bottom this one is light and easy to handlepunt/base - thick and smooth, contours nicely to the hand for comfortable pouringgreat shape for 2 reasons - the decanters that have large broad disc shaped bases make pouring difficult because the wine gets trapped in the disc and you have to basically go vertical while pouring the empty the decanter, secondly the straight neck that leads to what is basically a 90 degree turn in the disc-type makes it extremely difficult to get a decanter brush in there and clean every surface...with this one you can push it straight down and hit every surface of the glass, the broad mouth also allows you to basically empty it in about 2 seconds which is nice for cleaning where as the disc kind you have to hold upside down and let the bubbles glug glug for like 30 seconds to empty itspout - the reviews say it chips easily and that it's super thin - I was expecting like lip of a wine glass thin which is not the case...the very edge of the lip is razor thin but the actual glass on the spout is quite thick which I'm not a fan of...picture if you laser cut through a wine bottle at a 45 degree angle...the very edge would be sharp glass but there would be a 1/2 inch thick flat glass part that's just kinda clunky and not sleek...also my decanter arrived with a deep scratch all around the pouring spout, doesn't impact the use of it and a guest probably wouldn't notice but as the owner who cleans it it's very obvious - this is probably the only complaint I have with the productoverall for a $25 decanter it's great and if I ever break it I'll probably be purchasing the same one again

elegant
Aerates nicely, as a wine carafe should. Not drip proof as stated, but very controllable. Very nice quality, aligns my experiences with Bormioli wine glasses.

Yes, it really does chip far too easily. . .
. . . Yet I’ve ordered the same decanter four times. The aesthetics of the Bormioli are perfect and it’s the ideal size. We get just over a year out of one of these with usage at least twice a week. I do wish it wasn’t so delicate but it’s otherwise ideal, and very well priced.

Please don't waste your money
I am familiar with the brand. We have about 4 dozen of their glasses. We have 2 other decanters, but were looking for something simple and elegant. This - by description - fit the bill. The first one arrived with significant flaws in the glass. Visible air bubbles or pockets that visually disturb the elegance of the carafe. If I had paid $20 for, or didn't know the brand I'd chalk it up to cheap. I requested a replacement. The second carafe had different, but more significant flaws. Interestingly, standing side-by-side, the two items were different enough that had I not known, I would assume they were from different manufacturers. The punts were completely different sizes. Not a big deal, but shows either the nature of hand-blown glass or a lack of quality control. We decided to keep one of the two despite the flaws. Poured a bottle of wine into it. So far, so good.Poured a glass. Wine adheres to the lip so you get a pregnant drip that clings to the edge and drops as you put it down. If you catch the drip, it runs along the lip to the back and runs down. Either way, your table cloth is covered with red dots by the end of the evening, even if you're wiping the carafe after each use.Why one star? Well, that's for the shape and utility. Visually, it is what it says. In function, as a carafe, it fails miserably. I have other carafes that while too elaborate for every day use, function flawlessly and cost about the same. Basically, it has one job - to hold and pour wine, and it fails. Wine should not dribble and drip. It's totally inelegant. In the end, I returned them both. On a shelf it's nice enough, but I would never use it again, regardless of the circumstances.

Great value and well made
As I Die hard Riedel purchaser who lost two in a week opted for this, very pleased so far. Sturdy and does the job and won't bring a tear to my eye when it breaks.

Excellent wine decanter!
You can waste your time on an expensive, beautiful looking decanter, but this is simple and amazingly easy to clean. This is my second one as I broke my first one during a move. Highly recommend.
