Great for cleaning deep large bottles but problem for narrow necked bottles
This is the first bottle brush that was was long enough and had a firm spongy surface to properly clean my water bottles and decanters. The many small spongy cubes provide an excellent friction surface for proper cleaning and removal of any dried-on residue without scratching the surfaces. The wire stem could be bent into a step-pattern shape so the vertical sides of standard bottles could be properly scrubbed. It is the best brush I have seen so far if the bottle neck is at least 1.25 inches wide (after manipulating the brush end). If you can't get it to fit into your bottle, it is easy to return if you bought it directly from Amazon. Caveats: The end of the brush has a stubby bob-end that is initially 1.75 inches in diameter. After manipulating and bending the end of the wire stem into a tighter vertical rise were it is attached to the bob-end, I was able to reduce the effective size of the brush end to about 1.25 inches in diameter (which is the same width as the bottom of the plastic handle). This is still a problem for very narrow necked bottles and decanters. It is not easy to bend the brush into the shape shown in the picture for flared wine decanters. You will have to bend the shape of the brush stem once the bob-end is past the straight neck by pressuring it against the inside bottom or walls of the decanter. If you have a delicate thin walled decanter, I can understand being concerned about the amount of pressure you will have to apply against the walls of the decanter in order to fully bend the wire stem. Though you will be able to scrub the full bottom of a flared decanter, you will probably never be able to bend the brush into a shape that will fully scrub the complete sides of a broadly flared decanter.

It works fine for me
Interesting! Before I bought this brush, I read a number of horror stories from people having trouble making this thing work in the manner depicted. I almost walked away from it. I was in the market for a new decanter since I had broken mine using an ill advised method of cleaning called 'jamming it into the dishwasher'. This led me to believe that I needed a better cleaning solution. To be fair, the dishwasher method worked well for several years, but I can assure you that picking bits of broken decanter out of the bottom of a dishwasher is no fun. What convinced me that the Oenophilia brush might work, was the fact that the replacement Decanter that I had selected was, in fact, manufactured by Oenophilia. I am a retired engineer and it occurs to me that anyone who would design a cleaning device that would not work on his own product would need to be totally insane, so I took the plunge. The first time I used it I had to think about how to get it into the decanter and I had to do a little manipulation on the bends, particularly the one at the end. I will give the designer the benefit of the doubt, by offering that it was bent that way for shipping. LOL. Once I got that sorted out, I realized that I had made a good decision in decanter selection as the neck size was much wider than that on old decanter, allowing easier entry of the brush. Oenophilia strikes again! Once that problem was solved, the brush works great. I must admit that I did hedge my bet on this selection as I bought at the same time, a bottle of cleaner beads. However, since the brush works so well I haven't used them yet..... Maybe later!

Very userful!
I don't use this for a decanter. I use this brush to clean the inside of my water bottles and other bottles that you can't get your hand into. I've had it for over a year and through time, the foam like bristles are coming off at the tip. It's not that bad, but I can see that might have to replace the brush in the future. I like like that it bends so you can clean the side and larger crevices. Would buy again.

Product doesn't work!
The head on this decanter brush is so big it didn't fit through my standard sized decanter. My decanter looks just like the one pictured with this product. I was able to unroll the head a bit to make it smaller, and it still didn't fit into my decanter. Even if I was able to get it into my decanter, the wire is so stiff, that I can't see it bending like shown in the picture. I recommend purchasing a brush from a different manufacturer!

Not a real brush
I needed brushes that would fit inside a glass teapot spout. If you think youโre getting something small, forget ordering these because they are really big and useless. I kept them only because I thought sooner or later I will find a use for them.

Essential
If you have a wine decanter you need a brush like this one to clean it. In all frankness, every decanter should come with one. It's made of a wire with a stiff brushlike material, little squares. You can bend the wire and insert it to the every nook and cranny of your decanter. Definitely get one of these. They're cheap and its about the only way to clean your decanter thoroughly.

Excellent brush for a decanter.
Works great. First time it was hard to get the brush top in and out. However, on successive uses, it goes in and out much easier. I place the brush in the sink with dish soap solution before using. The stem is adjustable to any position.

It works for my needs but I wouldn't clean a fine crystal decanter with it
I purchased this product so that I could use it to clean my 1 qt bormioli swing cap bottles. The cleaner I wanted was on back order and I had a deadline. In the picture this product looks like it is very supple. Actually it is not at all. It is very hard and the tip has a fold on it which made it impossible to get into my bottles until I made a very simple modification. Just use some pliers and undo the fold. After that it works pretty well. If I had a very fine class decanter I do not believe I would use this to clean it because it is too hard, but for some sturdy bormioli swing cap bottles that I use to make sodas, well it's just about right. It would be really awesome if they would replace the metal with a more flexible plastic so it will be more supple like it seems in the picture.

Too big for standard decanter
It doesn't fit into a standard decanter throats which is the whole purpose! The looped end is too big and can not be unwound.
