Quantum Mechanics: Non-Relativistic Theory

ATTENTION: The five star rating applies only to the textbook and the author, NOT to the publisher.It's really embarrassing that such a nice textbook is published and printed in extremely bad quality. I bought this book three years ago, despite my greed to read it, I never managed to, because of the extremely bad typesetting and using incredibly small font size by the publisher. The equations are hardly readable.This is really a big shame to the publisher. Poor Landau would be shaken in grave if he knew how bad his textbooks were published under his name.I am already looking for another (perhaps older) version of this book that could be at least readable.A question to the publisher: Seriously, I wonder if you ever had a look at the text inside this book to see what you did with printing? Did you ever think how the poor reader of the book would manage reading 700 pages of tiny letters and symbols, or you were just thinking of the money you could get out of his pocket?

Kindle version of Landau's course of theoretical physics contains many typo. Quantum Mechanics is not an exception. Be careful to read kindle version of this book. Compare it with the printed version, if possible.

I had read that these editions are something like printed versions of those scanned djvu files that you can find on the web if you search carefully enough. I just confirmed that. Although I is not as cathastrophic as I feared, it is really disappoiting. Regarding the content, it is a Landau book, so there is not much to say.

You definitely need their "compilation of tasks" (рус. Сборник задач по квантовой механике) to parallel its contents and challenge your learning. Luckily, each good Russian university uses this book as a standard textbook-even these days. So once one knows Russian language, looking for these compilations will be easy!The author assumes reader are already familiar with math logics and background theories... it will not be an easy book

The book is an excellent reference for graduate students and show the mastery of Lev Landau (Noble laureate in Physics). It is a very good way to learn quantum mechanics. The only down side is that it is not very explanatory.

Wow, Landaus' book is just amazing. A great read. His whole series is just fabulous. I have read most of his books and have to admit that Russian physics is well outstanding because of this.

The equations in this text are unreadable in the Kindle edition. They look like they were made with Microsoft Word equation editor in 1997. Furthermore, there are several equations with absurd mistakes, "In particular, the operator f^{-3} is called the inverse...". Oh, REALLY? These must surely be transcription errors, not in the print version of this classic text. Don't buy the kindle edition.

The unique thing that can be state for Landau is perfection.High formalism, precise comments and several examples have made an obligated text for students.

It's a classical textbook and must be read if you are interested in understanding the subject.

Desarrollo los fundamentos de la mecánica cuántica de forma clara y concisa, es un libro de referencia para investigadores y muy recomendable para un curso de nivel de graduados.

What they did is reprint the original version (half a century ago) and enlarge the font size, however, it is found that some equations are still not readable (but you can tell based on Landau's own description), perhaps they should try to re-type everything. After all, the book itself is really good for those who want to go further in this field.
