Sebago Docksides - a worthy boat shoe
Sizing is always tough on the internet and shoes typically vary so much anyways, buying online is doubly hard. Since these are boat shoes, fit is particularly important. I have never owned Sebagos before so I had to guess what my size would be. Typically I'm 11.5 so that's what I ordered and as I said they are a little big. However I'm not sure an 11 would fit, tough call. Next time I would order both sizes and return the one that doesn't fit as well. Other than the minor size issue, these are fantastic shoes. The quality is very high overall, the leather is soft but durable and the sole is actually nonslip. While I think you could walk all day in these, I have stood all day in them and that was not a good idea. It seems like almost the same thing but it's not. I don't blame the shoes though, they're made for moving around a lot, not standing in place. I have worn these almost everyday for a month now and the shoes look brand new and except for that one day, they've been very comfortable. The look is formal enough for work but also casual enough for everyday wear. Love them and recommend them!

New Favorite!
I'm delighted with this shoe. Mine are brown on brown. The attention to detail and finish are excellent: Perfectly even stitches, well placed brand tags, smooth soft roll over, and a perfectly fitted lining, The long lateral siping on the slightly thick soles gives a soft, flexible feel and positive grip even on slick surfaces like wet marble. The footbed is covered with finished leather on the back half; and napped leather up front. Combined with napped interior and wrap-around lacing, this shoe stays put even when they get wet. Leather is pretty good quality; actually quite excellent at this price point. Plan on an active and gradual break in with these guys. I needed about 12 hours of break-in, the first six with socks, before they became comfy. After a quick cleaning and oiling, they look great; equally appropriate dressed up under chinos or totally casual under cargo shorts. I wear an 11.5 in good quality shoes, but opted to go half size larger in these. It was a mistake. The 11.5 replacements were perfectly true-to-size on my bare feet.

Switched from Sperry to Sebago
I've been a long-time Sperry Topsider wearer. When I purchased my first pair 1977, they were made in New England and the quality was fantastic. Now they are made in China; it seems to me that the quality has gone down, while the price has gone up. I decided to give Sebagos a try, so I ordered a pair of Sebago Spinnakers last spring. They were stiff at first, but quickly became comfortable, and the "W" width was wide enough for my feet. They have become my favorite casual shoe this summer. My old brown Sperry Topsiders needed replacing, so I ordered these Sebago Docksides instead, and in the same size/width as the Spinnakers. I was disappointed at first, because they seemed slightly tighter and less comfortable than the Spinnakers. I was almost ready to send them back, but decided to wear them a few hours a day inside the house. Within a few days, they began to "loosen up" and become more comfortable and are now a "keeper." I deducted one star because I still think that they are slightly narrow, in spite of being labeled as "Wide." Why do so many shoe manufacturers insist on making narrow Wide shoes? Probably to save on leather and costs. The quality and workmanship is superior to Sperry, in my opinion. The leather is much thicker and has a uniform smooth finish - no weird wavy spots or ripples in the leather like on my last pair of Sperrys. The stitching is also straight and even. The sole is slightly thicker, and a little firmer than Sperrys. They're not made in USA, but at least in the Western Hemisphere - the Dominican Republic - not China.

Sperry Sucks, These Rock
If you wish to go back to a time when Sperry's lasted more than six months, look no further than Sebago. The exact same timeless style, but built with quality leather, quality soles, and constructed to last. The second you hold these shoes in your hand you will be blown away with how sturdily constructed they are. The soles are thicker than Topsiders, the leather is stiffer, the stitching is visibly thicker, and the stitching attaching the sole is more deeply recessed. Everything about this shoe screams quality in a way that makes topsiders seem cheap in comparison. All while costing half as much. Consider me a convert after a lifetime of Topsiders. Sorry Sperry, but you suck.

5 stars for a great product
Please note: I exchanged these for a size 12. These shoes run at LEAST 1 size big. In Nike I wear 14, Adidas 14, but in dress shoes I wear 13. Expected these to fit the same, however they fit much better as a 12. As to the quality of the product, I give it high marks. Please know that these are unlike Sperrys in that they need a longer break in time. Get some no-show socks to help you break them in. They are very comfortable, the leather is better than a Sperry and they look fantastic. The tan color is extremely versatile and lets you go shorts or pants and still look great. I am very happy with my purchase and 5 stars to Amazon customer service for making my return and replacement so very simple.

Awesome shoes. I will start by saying I'm a ...
Awesome shoes. I will start by saying I'm a 12 1/2 and got the 12s and they fit very well. They are sturdy shows like most people said so they will take a while to break in. My recommendation: take them into the shower with you and get them wet and walk around in them. This softens the leather and breaks them in easier. They are very solid shoes that look great. Only complaint is it seems as if the sole of the shoe doesn't go all the way to the toe, it stops near the balls of your feet which I can't think of a reason for.

Good shoes but very stiff! I would not buy again!!!
These shoes were a good buy at $39 but were very stiff and required me to take quite a few short trips (5 to 10 mins each) in the shoe before they didn't hurt. In fact I used a shoe stretcher which worked great to widen them out a tad but didn't do anything for the overall stiffness of the shoe. I used a hair dryer to soften them up on a few trips and now they are slowly breaking in. My sense is that they are very well made and should last long. If your will to spend another 10 bucks and up the anti to $50 you can find a shoe won't have such a long break in. If price is you major concern this is a very good price on a very decent shoe but again the break-in was kinda a PITA. Updated after almost a yead!! Shoe never really broke-in!! I tried everything as I liked the shoe but it was always too stiff and painful!! I stretched them, soaked them, heated them, oiled them and the bottom line for me these are just too stiff and uncomfortable to wear...ended up giving them away...so if comfort is a priorty...don't by these...Dockers would be a much better choice. I really wanted to like these but they are a one-star @ full price, two star at $40...

Bottom Line: Excellent, comfortable nu-buck alternative to Sperry’s
Bottom Line: Excellent, comfortable nu-buck alternative to Sperry’s What is the appeal of boat shoes? They’re simple, comfortable and convenient; they can be slipped on and off with ease, worn with or without socks (go no socks), and they pair well with chino’s, jeans and shorts. Right out of the box, I was impressed with the smooth, soft nu-buck exterior. The nap is ever so slight with a velvet touch and the texture can be appreciated both visually and physically. The construction is especially solid with the Docksides being flexible and close to the ground which presents an interesting dichotomy; while I wouldn’t go on hikes with them or unusually long walking day trips, they are very relaxed and non-restrictive compared to Sperry’s, which tend to be stiffer boat shoes. So what does that mean? Great for casual and boating use, not so great for walking the length of Manhattan. The upper and interior linings are made from heavy-duty leather, with brass eyelets for the rawhide laces which are suitably thick to prevent breaking but not so thick to prevent easy lacing. The outsoles are rubber (compared to man-made soles which are made from cheaper plastic). Rubber outsoles are non-marking and slip-resistant. Usually reserved for spring and summer use, the shoes should last for quite a many years, depending on levels of abuse. If you’re a landlubber, these can easily go a decade. The design is not unnecessarily garish so these bad boys will never date themselves in the long run. Better arch support would have made these a 5 but keep in mind, that's rare for boat shoes.

Seabago Docksides
Most likely the best boat/yachtshoe ever made. Well recommended.

super affaire!
Je les ai acheté il y a deux ans et c'est de la qualité. Un peu rigide au début sans chaussettes mais après quelques temps c'est nickel. A bien entretenir pour faire durer.

Really like these
Good shoes. Great for summer months. Sizing can be tricky. Go 1/2 a size up on your usual fitting
