Paint Along with Jerry Yarnell Volume Three - Painting Magic

As an avid follower of Jerry Yarnell,I get as many of his books as I can afford.This book was practically new, and will afford me many hours of invaluable instruction. I appreciate the cost and the prompt fulfillment of my order.

I've purchased 3 or 4 of his books and they all have the same initial chapters on basics. I've liked the variety of scenes to paint which I use to practice those elements I want to improve on or need to incorporate into a painting of my own creation

I like his books but I really love his DVDs. I do not have the money for art school but couldn't really find a source that would tell you why one does things and how to do it, so you can paint what's in your head without it looking like a school drawing/painting. I'm best as an audio learner, so the DVDs are great, the books are good references also. Bob Ross will get you a picture but Jerry Yarnell actually tells you why you're doing it. Great Instructor!

I purchased three Jerry Yarnell instruction books for a friend..she found them informative.

I love him on PBS, love his paintings in general. I think the mistake I made is in ordering the Kindle edition. It's pretty difficult to see the colors and detail in the very tiny step by step photos. I read it on my MacBook Pro and still in each step the photos are only about 2" sq. Instructions are pretty well written, however he does jump around a lot. I like to paint from top to bottom, sky, background, middle ground, foreground. He jumps from one thing to the other quite frequently, if this would not bother you, go for it!

This is a good book for intermediate and advanced painting. If you are struggling with the next step forward you will love this book

The book gives a lot of information and will be a great help, Just wish it would go into ore detail in the brush strokes and steps, ( visual steps), in making flowers grasses, the fur on the deer.

The book arrived exactly as it was described as brand new. very happy!

I like all the step by step demonstrations

I've watched Jerry Yarnell on tv so I was sort of prepared for what I found in this book. I love his approach to painting and found him quite interesting and helpful. The difficulty here was that I was looking for some paint along projects to help me improve my landscape skills. the paintings are very detailed and the instructions are good but I just couldn't seem to get interested in the pictures. Nothing really against the book, it just wasn't for me.

Wonderful paintings with step by step demonstrations . A variety of scenes in different challenging colours. I would recommend this book to challenging ideas and scenes.

For now it is my second favorite book of three from Yarnell. It's a good book if you like the Yarnell style of book.
