Cooked chicken, tossed a salad, baked a bread and made the escoffier potatoes. Each recipe was absolutely perfect - I highly recommend this book to anybody who is just beginning their culinary adventure. Beautiful book and a lovely collection of recipes. I love the detailed sourdough section. I have tried tonka bean madeleines and financier , they turned out a dream. Looking forward to trying many more.

Inspiring, beautifully written recipes destined to be family classics.
This has quickly become my absolute favorite cookbook and I am gradually cooking my way through it! The descriptions of each recipe are so thoughtfully written and inspiring. This cook book is not only wonderfully edited (haven't come across a single mis-measurement or unclear cooking direction) but the illustrations are absolutely a work of art in and of themselves. This book has quickly become a mainstay and I'm exited for my young children to grow up with these recipes on our family table.

I basically read this book first like a novel
I basically read this book first like a novel, and now will set my sights on making more of the recipes! I adore the vignettes about how each recipe came to be and their time in Paris. The watercolors are gorgeous and make the cookbook even more interesting. I highly recommend the cold-oven chicken and the coconut fish stew (you can leave the potatoes out and eat it over rice, my preferred method!), and can't wait to keep eating my way through the book. I appreciate the mix of mostly accessible recipes with a few aspirational recipes thrown in for when I'm ready to take my cooking to the next level and have the time to do so. I've already given it to two friends as gifts and they were thrilled. I'll definitely buy any other cookbooks by these chefs!

Not just recipes- mini adventures for all the senses!
I am by no means an expert cook and this book has upped my game tremendously. It is very beginner friendly. You learn about types of almonds, how to choose mustards and olive oils. Dishes are original and have a complex flavor, but also simple and healthy. And the original painted illustrations are beautiful!

Love through food
As Jennie (one of the book's authors) says in her dedication, cooking is love through food. This book contains so many fabulous recipes to nourish relationships, both new and old. Some of my favorites include the coconut fish stew, kale salad, and cold-oven chicken. This book is also amazing for people who are just starting to cook since it includes helpful tips and includes a bunch of recipes for essentials. Although geared towards those wanting to channel the Parisian picnic vibe, it's also a good general guide for any kitchen and incorporates flavors and techniques from around the world. Finally, the book is worth buying for the beautiful hand drawn illustrations alone. Highly recommended!
