Education!
Well written, witty and entertaining while also being incredibly educating! I wish I'd had this when I first stared spinning years and years ago. This opened my world to the *many* nuances of silk spinning, and I'm practicing to get better.

A great book full of hard to find info on spinning silk!
This book was all I expected and more! I was timid about working with silk before I purchased Sara Lamb's book on spinning silk. She touches on everything one needs to know on silk spinning; the different types and grades, dying, spinning, weaving, knitting, as well as examples of her mistakes from her personal experiences of working with silk. The pictures are quite beautiful and it is obvious that she is a very talented fiber artist! The information she shares in her book is much needed info that is usually only barely touched upon in other spinning books. I love silk and am very excited to begin spinning it on its' own. Previously, I was a bit intimidated to try spinning silk without blending with other fibers, and attempting to dye it was something I have only thought of doing! After reading Sara's book, I feel more confident about working with silk. It's all here; everything you need to know about working with silk!! I highly recommend this for anyone that has ever wanted to work with silk fiber but was intimidated! Well worth the price!!

Incredible Spinning Resource.
There aren't too many books on the market that focus exclusively on the practical application of silk regarding the craft of spinning...in fact, this is the first I've seen. As a spinner with a wool allergy, this resource was a fantastic find, as it gave me the information needed to create strong yarns with fibres that don't make me break out in hives when I knit and wear them. A lot of attention is placed on how to create blends of material that maximise the benefits of each fibre in the final product, as well as colour-blending techniques and avoiding waste of product. This is a wonderful resource that I highly recommend if you use silk even marginally in your spun work; the other books in The Practical Spinner's Guide series are of equal value, as well.

Love this book for all the educational content
Love this book for all the educational content. The inspirations are wonderful, just wish there had been a link to one or two of the items in the Project Gallery, with instructions as to how it was sewn together. All in all, this is a wonderful resource.

Need to understand about spinning before reading this one
This book is written with spinning/weaving terminology that assumes you already know much about spinning etc. It’s a good enough book yet felt like there was something missing?
