Although I will probably use these in a few places, I initially bought these because I have an early version of Hornby's brand new Terrier whose pickups are absolutely useless, so flimsy that even a replacement pickup plate wouldn't make reliable contact. I tried copper stripboard and wire but this was also fruitless so I opted to buy these. I suspect these could still be made at a profit for less money, but that's easy for me to say when I've not had to pay for the development cost and testing, and volumes are still perhaps low overall. They did job though and now I have life in what was an expensive paperweight so now I'm looking at where else I can mount these. They're not thin enough to go anywhere, and exposed form means you can't attach directly to anything metal which pushes the pickup plate slightly lower if underslung, but I'm now looking at the other locos in my collection and wondering what will benefit from these useful items. Something to mention is that the copper wipers themselves seem to be well made and do the job well.

Used to update the original pickups on a 1980's Hornby 0-4-0 for conversion to DCC. worked well. I left the original pickup ups in place and added these in parallel. Tested in Dc operation before converting to DCC.
