LIFE CHANGING
If you have ever asked yourself, " what am I doing wrong", this book can help you get it right. I am a female and I bought the book because I admire Tony Dungy. Little did I know how the book would change my life. My husband took the book from me and read it. It was such an eye opener for him, that our lives together have gotten soooooo much better. He is more attentive. He apologized for not helping me around the house and with our kids on a more consistent basis. Ladies, buy this book for the men in your lives. It will change them forever.... and make your life easier, happier, and more enjoyable. Thanks Mr. Dungy, you will never know how much I appreciate having an " UNCOMMON MAN"!!

Truly Uncommon Greatness!
I recall being in a staff meeting some years ago and the team leader mentioned mentioned. I blurted out, who is Tony Dungy? fortunately no one looked at me like I was the idiot I felt like, after I discovered who Tony Dungy is. Since that time I set out to find out more about him and now I have bought his books. I must say that they are remarkable. Truly outstanding reads. I really like the fact that he is a Christian. His books share such good information for everyone from sports fan, Christian book readers, and the casual reader. My husband who rarely reads anything not involved with his job, says he is going to read these books. This is an absolutely great read! Thanks Mr. Dungy!!!

Three Things I Learned from This Book
Tony Dungy, head coach for the Indianapolis Colts, can't help but speak from his faith. It saturates his life, his work and his personal history. Anyone who knows anything about this man knows he's a Christian believer. His first and previous book, "Quiet Strength," was autobiographical, with a little help from co-author Nathan Whitaker. So it focused on his upbringing in Detroit, the powerful influence of his parents and family, how he came to professional football, his faith, and all of the career triumphs and tragedies that led to the Colts winning the Super Bowl."Uncommon: Finding Your Path to Significance" is also autobiographical, but only in the sense that it distills how this man lives his life, or strives to. There is much to admire here -- would that we all strive to live our lives like this man has, and teach our sons and daughters to do the same.He says at least three things in this book I found especially insightful, regardless of one's faith or lack of it.First, what you do is less important than how you do it. The "how" ultimately has much more influence and impact than the "what."Second, the opposite of courage is not cowardice. The opposite of courage is conformity. I had to think about that for a while but he's got it exactly right.Third, don't let the bad things that happen to you define who you are as a person. Instead, what defines you as a person is how you respond to the bad things, and the good things, too, for that matter. In "Uncommon," Tony Dungy says obvious things -- treat people well; love and honor your wife; teach and be there for your children; see successes and failures for what they are; character matters. That they sound surprising or "preachy" says a lot more about us and our culture than it does about the author.

Great read for men
As a woman reading this book, I found that it was geared towards men. I didn't realize this until I started reading it, but I'm glad I finished it. It's so important for our youth today to have positive male role models and great dads in the home. Unfortunately, many of our youth no longer have this.Dungy shares stories of role models he had in his life and the influence his dad made on him. It was the combination of the male role models and both of his parents that made a difference in his life. Anyone can be a positive role model to our young men today, and Dungy challenges men to do just that. Excellent challenge and principles to live by.

Great book
Great book for inspiration on how to be a better man and citizen overall. A lot of his advice and the way he lives his life is based on the bible as a guide...which can be a hot topic for some...but if you can read this with an open mind and without your religious emotions/opinions interfering you'll find some great life lessons. I'd definitely recommend it for anyone - and especially a 20 something young man who's about to make some big time life decisions.

Great book to get to know Jesus Christ in the Marketplace
Tony Dungy's work has had a new chapter added. This book walks the reader through the realities of being a Christian in the sports realm and a Christian in the Marketplace, much like the Apostle Paul had to face. Great book for young men and not-so-young men.

Uncommon by Tony Dungy
Excellent reading material. I never knew much about Tony Dungy the man. Just that he was a football coach. After reading this book, I find he is much more than just a coach. This is a wonderful book for anyone to read. But it would be an excellent gift for men or even young boys, for middle school, eight grade or high school graduation, Confirmation or Religious celebrations, Fathers Day, or birthdays. He is a wonderful role model. We need more men to be examples and role models like Mr. Dungy.
