Amazing product, but ALWAYS consult with your vet before beginning zinc.
I purchased this after reading about ZRD in Huskies. I have 2 huskies; a brother and sister from the same littler. One has a beautiful “normal” husky coat. The other husky started with that same beautiful coat, but then after his first serious shed at around 1 year, his guard hairs never seemed to grow back. He simply had the white, fluffy undercoat. Having owned huskies before, I knew there was something wrong, but I didn’t worry too much because he didn’t show any other outward signs other than being the more “delicate” between the two. As coat began to get duller and attracted an unusual amount of dirt, I strated growing concerned and took him to my vet. He wasn’t sure exactly what was causing the abnormal coat, but agreed that he’d also seen some clinical journals where this abnormal coat was mentioned as part of a zinc deficiency. He agreed I should try this Zinpro and said wait six months to see what happened. We are now in month two, and our boy’s guard hairs are beginning to grow back. He no longer has that abnormal “grimy” look to his coat and he seems a little less “delicate.” I am very happy with this product, and expect to see an even bigger improvement in the next 4 months.I read the reviews on this product and also did a lot of my own research before I purchased. However, I also consulted with my vet before beginning a zinc supplementation. Overdosing on zinc is a VERY REAL THING. I have read people killed their dogs by over supplementing on these reviews. Please don’t give this to your dog without consulting with a vet. Even though I have huskies where the evidence and literature is overwhelming for ZRD, I still talked to my vet and got the right dosage. Don’t blame the company for killing your dog if you don’t take those steps.I am incredibly happy with this product. No diet change, salmon oil, brushing or grooming made a difference for my husky and his coat. This is the only thing that has helped him and we are so excited to see the improvement. My husky also likes the taste; we just put it in with his food and he actually picks the tablets out first. I have experienced a few broken tabs, but not that many and I have bought human chewable tablets from the healthfood store with the same amount of breakage.

Finally a solution to dry, flaky skin!
I have a 2 year old, 65lb Staffordshire Bull Terrier who has always suffered from dry, itchy, flaky skin, bald spots, and (more recently) brittle nails. I have tried changing his food to grain-free, thinking it was an allergy, but there was no change. I tried adding fish oil to his food to boost his Omega-3 intake, again no change. (I tried the oil for several months). Now that it is winter his condition was worsening and he would constantly scratch and lick himself. The only relief I could find was in oatmeal shampoo baths, but even that only soothed the itching for a short time and did nothing to fix the problem. I thought I would finally have to cave and take him to the vet AGAIN (even though last time they just said he probably had allergies and to give him Benadryl) when I stumbled upon an article about the skin problems many Huskies have due to a zinc deficiency. The symptoms sounded extremely similar to my dog's, so I figured I would try one last thing before spending more money on a vet visit. I am so glad I did!! This 8 dollar bottle of tablets did the trick, I was able to begin seeing a difference after only 3 days! His coat is MUCH softer, very little to no flaking (and much smaller flakes). A few more days and I believe I am seeing some hair growth in the areas that have been very thin. I'm excited to see how this will improve his nails when they grow out more. I feed him 2 tablets a day, 1 with each meal, which is slightly less than the recommended dose (I wanted to see how he did on them since zinc is known to upset the stomach). He has had no adverse reaction to it. He turns his nose up to the tablet (it's supposed to be chewable and liver flavored) but I just coat it in some peanut butter and he gobbles it up like a treat. I am so happy I ordered these! At two tablets a day this bottle will last for 50 days, and for 8 dollars it is definitely worth trying if your dog is struggling with skin problems!

I'm so grateful for this product. It's working wonders for my Alaskan Klee Kai (Mini Husky)
This product is working wonders for my 1-year-old Alaskan Klee Kai. She's had skin issues since she was about 4-months old that progressively got worse. She has also dealt with yeast infections and itchy skin. She has been on a grain-free diet and we even upgraded her food to a better brand with a higher concentration of salmon. This still wasn't enough to meet her nutritional requirements. She still needed more zinc, so we decided to add this supplement since huskies have issues with absorbing zinc. She has been on this supplement for over a week now and her skin is getting so much better. The redness and dryness is going away and she is finally growing hair in her ears. Her ears are now turning pink and they were so sore and red and itchy before. She still has some red patches and redness around her chin and chin zits, but she is gradually clearing up more and more each day. I'm going to find a good vitamin C supplement for dogs to add to her routine in combination with this supplement.I'm so relieved that she feels better and truly grateful for this product. My baby girl Fauna is finally happy again and this makes my heart sings with joy! Thank you so much for creating a product that works! She is getting more beautiful with each passing day.Not all dogs have a zinc deficiency. My Chihuahua is fine and getting everything he needs from food. I think it's important to look for the signs of zinc imbalances such as chin zits, sore mouth, missing patches of fur, red skin and other issues before giving your dog extra zinc. Snow dogs or dogs with husky relatives often need more zinc because they evolved on a high fish diet and even dog food with salmon isn't enough.
