My daughter lives the one I got for her for christmas! They are cuteness growing herbs and next they will do strawberries. It's the prefect size, and they are enjoying using it with their daughter. They said it was very easy to set up and use as well

This is a great indoor growing system for small plants. We used this primarily for herbs when not possible to grow them outside during cold and harsh Canadian winters. The kit is as described and virtually seamless to put together. The pieces snap together quite easily making the process take less time than I had expected. I ended up being so happy with it that I got a second and third one for my mom and sister who also loved them. If you really want to treat someone, consider purchasing the purified water and seeds that are required to finish setting up this kit. I’m sure water that has not been purified is also fine, but we did not want to risk not listening to the instructions with such a fancy kit and after investing so much time waiting for our herbs to grow. The size is perfect and doesn’t take up too much counter space. It’s basically the same size as a large loaf of bread with more benefits! The pumps that are activated to help the seeds grow are fairly quiet, similar to a quiet fan, so it could even go in your bedroom (so long as you’re not an incredibly light sleeper). Additionally, the lights are not super bright so they could also go in your bedroom if you had no room in your kitchen, but only if you are able to sleep in any conditions other than pitch black. Overall, it is a great little system and I would definitely recommend for your friends & family with a green thumb!

Because I live in a place that has long, cold winters, the desire for fresh, home-grown herbs doesn't align well with our seasons. I was tired of buying sad-looking basil and parsley from the grocery store, so I decided to give this indoor hydroponics kit a try. My wife and I thought it would also be a fun project to do with our kids. The soil-free nature of the system seemed like the perfect, low-mess way to get into indoor gardening. Setting up the unit was incredibly straightforward and took less than 15 minutes. You just assemble the light stand, fill the reservoir with water and the included liquid plant food, and pop in the seed pods. The automated timer for the light and the water pump makes the whole process nearly foolproof. The pump is quiet; you can barely hear it running. We were amazed at how quickly the first seeds sprouted, and we saw green shoots in just a few days! The kids loved checking on the "kitchen garden" every morning, and watching the plants grow so fast has been a genuinely fun family experience. We've had great success with basil, dill, parsley, and we're going to try chili peppers next. The only minor things to be aware of are that the light is intensely bright, so you'll want to place it somewhere it won't be disruptive in the evening, and you need to prune the more aggressive plants like basil so they don't block light from their neighbors. This has been one of the best purchases for our kitchen in a long time, and I highly recommend grabbing one.

I have used a hydroponic garden for the last 5 or 6 years and enjoy the ease of use to grow fresh herbs and lettuce mainly. This garden unit is less sophisticated than my previous ones but bigger in that it has 12 pods viable. Once growing I tend to use every other pod as the space between plants can be too narrow; especially for lettuce or larger plants. I used a couple of existing seed packs that I had in and they took around 5 or 6 days for the herbs to geminate. In the past I have used pre-seeded pods but it was easy and fast to add seeds to the growing medium and use that instead. Pre planted pods also show what is inside and labelled so I just wrote a quick guide to keep with the unit until they germinated. I did find the plant food a bit of a pain to mix according to the ratios needed but once made it was easy to administer. The light feature is pre set and very bright but it is not on a timer feature and has to be turned on manually each time; I keep my hydroponics garden in the laundry room where the light isn't going to bother anyone and set it as soon as I get up so that out isn't illuminating the room during the night. My previous one used the light during the early hours but it hasn't made a difference to growing the plants to have the light mainly on during the day and early evening instead. Overall the machine is more basic than ones I have used before and more flimsy but it would be a great starter kit to see if it was something you wanted to use at home. Inexpensive and has everything except the seeds.

We used to buy basil plants at our local grocery store until they stopped stocking them. We were looking for an alternative and this hydroponics system seems to be a viable option. As I'm unfamiliar with hydroponics this has been quite the learning experience. The included instructions were sufficiently clear but a few more pictures or diagrams wouldn't have hurt especially for the beginner. You get everything you need to get started in the box except for the purified water and seeds. I used distilled water as it was what I had available. I also used oregano and parsley seeds (no basil) as it was all I could find in stock this late in the season. To set it up you assemble the parts as instructed. Everything slides and snaps easily together. Then you fill the two plant bottles with purified water. Shake them until the tablets and beads dissolve in both bottles. The plant food solution is added to purified water at a ratio of 5ml plant food to 1 liter of purified water. I used 3 liters so I had to add 15 ml from each bottle. Note that one of the measuring caps on the bottles had a small hole and leaked solution. It appears the plastic wasn't properly extruded and left a gap. The cap on the other bottle was fine and I ended up using it to measure out the plant food solution. Once the seeds are done soaking for an hour add them to the recess in one of the sponges. Place the sponge in a holder that's suspended partly in the water solution. They suggest placing 3 seeds per pod. Cover the top of the holder with an included sticker and place a clear cap on top. The pod should now be ready for germination. Once you work out the process it's fairly simple and straightforward. The process then proceeded quickly for all 12 pods. When you turn the unit on the pump will automatically activate so make sure it's filled with the water solution. The pump is noticeably quiet so you could place it in a bedroom (which I did) and even sleep with it on (assuming you're not a light sleeper). The lights, though, are bright and there's no way I can sleep with them on. The unit cycles 16 hours of light then 8 hours of darkness so if you turn it on first thing in the morning by the time you sleep it should be off. I opted to simply turn it off manually at night. There doesn't appear to be a way to let the pump run while the lights are off so it's completely off. Hopefully that doesn't adversely affect the plants. If so I'll move the unit out of the bedroom. So far I'm optimistic about this hydroponics system. It's compact enough that it can be placed on a shelf and it's quiet enough not to cause a disturbance. All I have to do is ensure the fill indicator for the plant food water solution doesn't drop below the minimum 1.5 liter mark. It could benefit from some more granular controls but it's such a big step up from the constant watering and limited daylight (especially in winter) that it's not really a concern. Recommended.

It’s perfect for growing small herbs and salad greens indoors, especially in limited spaces or during colder months. Beginners might find it a bit lacking in convenience features, but for the price, it’s a great way to get into hydroponics without breaking the bank.
