The Metz backpack is the most popular in the Cabin Max collection. Classic exterior designs come in over 25 different colours and patterns, so we're confident you'll find one that matches your style and personality. Measuring only 55 x 40 x 20 cm, the Metz backpack is the perfect size for carry-on restrictions of the most popular airline - like Easyjet, Ryanair and Monarch to name a few. The ultra-weight of only 660g means you pack your hand luggage to the maximum and not yet to pay and the extra charges for luggage.

Hybrid bag
I haven't used the bag yet. I bought it to go hand luggage only on a lufthansa flight and the measurements match. it looks sturdy and I like the hybrid option.

Think about whether you really want a rucksack!
I deliberated long and hard about whether to get a rucksack or a wheeled suitcase, and in the end opted for a rucksack because a suitcase would have taken up more weight allowance. However, I did find it uncomfortable in the end, and wished I’d made a different decision!! I’m a 50yr old small woman though, and my partner (male, 40’s) had no problem with his rucksack. The rucksack itself is really well made, and a good design, but would have benefited from chest and waist belts to distribute the weight. We weren’t challenged at the gates with Ryanair, but soft cases are easy to overpack and might end up bulging in the wrong place and exceed dimensions. So take care not to overpack!

Reliable
A solid backpack.Traveled with it for 11 night safari in Botswana - yes, just this backpack.I packed 9.5 kg into it and went on as a carry on on every flight from UK to Maun and back. Maximum carry on on some flights was 8 kg, but because it looks so compact, just like your regular backpack, no-one stopped me to weigh it :) noooo checking in with my precious and only cargo! Also I packed so much in it - I was like a Houdini producing stuff out of it.It was thrown around the safari vehicle every day, used as a seat and was dragged through many places. This a true friend that will survive travel battles. 2 years on still goin' strong

Practical with wheels and backpack mode.
Really pleased with this wheeled cabin bag. It is not made for under the seat, but as a carry on trolley bag. It is comfortable in back pack mode and easy in wheel mode, easy to swap from wheels to backpack.

Appears to meet all airline requirements.
I've yet to actually use this item. However, I like the fact that is lightweight but strong and it appears to meet all the dimensional requirements of airlines, even Ryanair. It probably has enough space for clothes etc. for a short stay abroad in warm weather. It has some useful pockets and the handle and wheels look adequate for towing it through airport walkways etc..My main dislike is that when used as a backpack, there's no space to put the flap that otherwise covers the straps. I think the idea is that it can somehow be folded down between the wheels and a couple of small pieces of Velcro will hold it in that position. I intend to experiment with adding some Velcro patches to make this cover flap go between the straps and add to the padding on the back.
