Pricy, but appears very well made
I bought this compass to hang on my pocket knife with a plastic quick disconnect link and some paracord. I was impressed with its weight and apparent quality of construction. Despite what some are writing about the included chain being ferrous mine was not. Even wadded into a ball and placed next to the compass the chain did not affect the operation so it's definitely not made of ferrous metal. Regarding what some are saying that the pointer jumps around a lot. The compass (any compass) needs to rest on a solid, flat surface to read correctly. The trick is to slightly tilt the compass to bind up the needle a bit then lay it flat and it will point north in a nanosecond. It's all in the the operation. This seems like a pretty good unit for giving you rough headings. I wouldn't use it to navigate with but just for getting your general bearings it seems to be pretty good.

THE REAL THING…NOT A TOY… WELL BUILT AND WON’T LET YOU DOWN…
I’ve been carrying one of these on my keychain for a good while. I ensured that the split rings I used were brass (as they could throw off the reading). My son, who is in the National Guard, has one of these on his keyring and his girlfriend was given one by me as a gift from me to welcome her to the family. Make no mistake, this isn’t a toy…but the real thing. I own some of the most expensive and accurate compasses you can buy and I can tell you from personal experience, this one is well built, very accurate and won’t let you down.

A really enjoyable piece of jewelry that I bought to keep in my pocket, but ended up wearing.
I wanted a cheap, good compass. This looked like it! I bought it and it came, but then I was surprised how small it was. I was even more surprised when it looked great on the necklace it comes with. It's great utility and it says a lot about you, compared to other jewelry. It says you care about the cardinal directions, where as 99% of the people on the street can never tell you which way is North, even during a sunset.

Alot of character for the money
I've held many compasses in my hand and have steered many ships and boats by magnetic compasses. For the size, esthetics, it's worth the value. The ambiance of the brass gives it chsracter.

Dial does not move regardless of orientation.
This compass is trash. When set it down, the dial does not move. If I turn it, (as in North to a different direction) the dial does NOT move. I turn it again, putting North in again another direction, the dial does not move. 🙄

Nice item - lost brass backing
Overall a very nice and portable little brass compass. Pretty sensitive to magnets (if it's near your phone, it may affect it determining true north!) but easy to read. Only problem is that the screw-on back easily loosens up through everyday use, to the point of falling off. Every time I noticed the screw back getting loose I would tighten it, but would still somehow get loose - recently found that it must've loosened up and fell off, with no ability to replace it. Currently not sure if it's worth getting a replacement or trying to find a solution to try and keep this one together - unsure what's the most economical given I've gotten just 6 months of use out of it. It may make sense to put this in some sort of case or use tape to make sure the back doesn't get lost (which means the actual compass piece can fall out).

Great little solid EDC compass
Great brass compass for an EDC enthusiast. This compass did come with the MecArmy logo, but it can be easily sanded off. Be cautious, the compass face can get easily scratched! All in all a good buy.
