Saved lots on this purchase.
This was ordered as a replacement for a failed motor on a Kenmore water softener. Our water softener stopped working. Repairmen would not take it apart and suggested replacement of the softener for at least $1000. Took top control section apart and noticed that the motor housing was cracked. Got the part number off the motor case, looked up the number and ordered this as a replacement. Was a little nervous that this was the right motor because the part number was different but but it was the correct part. Installed this motor which was fairly straightforward. This fit perfectly, all holes lined up and electrical connectors matched up. Now the water softener works fine. Saved a lot of money not having to buy a new water softener.

Look for contributing causes
The original motor had lasted 12 years and only failed due to plastic housing coming apart. The new replacement motor is made the same way but upon inspection, the failed part was the weakest link. In this case, if you find a need to replace this motor, then expect to look for contributing issues. The valve system (cams, seals and rotary valve port plug is being turned by the motor/gear. Any friction, binding or resistance in the valve system will transfer stress to the motor so obviously this caused the failure in my water softener.

Worked Great! Low Price, too!
We were getting multiple errors on our Kenmore water softener's LCD display. It would randomly stop in the middle of a recharge and display different error codes. When the motor cycled, we noticed it sounded a bit odd, like it was straining. Checked the output voltage of the power supply transformer and all the electrical connections. All appeared good. Long story short, we took a chance and replaced the motor assembly. Our water softener now finishes recharges with no error codes.FWIW, the part number stenciled on our water softener motor was 7281291. According to the seller, their motor, part number 7286039, was a direct replacement for the 7281291, so we ordered it. Interesting, the new motor we received from the seller wasn't a 7286039, but a 7281291!

Fix for Kenmore Ultrasoft 400
I woke up to a loud clicking sound coming from the water softer & found that the old motor on my Kenmore Ultrasoft 400 had busted through the plastic casing. I found this replacement part on Amazon for about half the cost of Sears... it arrived quickly and only took minutes to replace. Will update if this fails prematurely, but works great so far.

Fixed the kenmore water softener
Overall this is a poor design. The previous motor housing on our Kenmore water softener broke. Ordered this replacement and the softener works again. Saved me from replacing the unit or calling repair person. Considering purchasing an extra to have one hand as it seems the previous owner had same issue.

Perfect replacement part
This was a perfect fit for a replacement motor for my water softener. I watched a couple of helpful videos on the internet on how to install it. This unit fit perfectly and has been doing its job for a few months now. I expect it to last about the same as the original, around 15 years.

Replacement for Kenmore 7223015. Works great!
Direct replacement for Kenmore UltraSoft 425 part 7223015. Had issues with the softener continuously running in regen mode. Opened cover to see the part cracked. Purchased this part as a replacement as it was listed as the new substituted parr on the Kenmore site. Cheaper here. Replaced in 5 minutes and softener is working again.

Standard replacement part
The part was shipped and received without issue. It appears to be a standard OEM part, as such it's design is very economic, as in thin plastic case that will probably break again. However, replacing it was easy and saved me from having to buy a new water softener.

Fixed my Kenmore softener.
My 11 yr old Kenmore Ultra Soft 400 quit on me a couple of weeks ago. It was making a clicking noise and water was running continuously through the unit. I figured the unit was older and probably needed to be replaced (about $1200). I called around about repair and was told that nobody repairs Kenmore anymore since the demiseyof Sears in Canada. I looked around on YouTube and found a couple of videos of people doing various repairs. I took the cover off mine and immediately saw the failed and broken part. I ordered this part for approximately $100 and it was the easiest thing ever to replace. 2 screws and plug it in. After going through the settings my softener regenerated and everything works perfect. Glad I found this.
