Batman by Jeph Loeb & Tim Sale Omnibus

You Feeling Lucky?
Firstly, the contents of the book is amazing. From Jeph Loeb's amazing storytelling and gritty narative that solidifies batman as both an amazing crime fighter but also the worlds greatest detective, to Tim Sale's fantastic artwork that gives a dramatic and sometimes exaggerated aesthetic. Jeph Loeb does an amazing job at showing us Batman's second and third years as the caped crusader and gets the reader used to some of his most iconic rogues, making this book amazing for newer readers once they've read "batman: year one" along with showing some more abscure characters for the people who already know a bit more about batman. And this is again along side Tim Sale's brilliant artwork that took me a while to get used to but made me fall in love way before the book ended. It is truly a treat to experience this artwork in the oversized format accompanying the book, and is one of the main reasons I double dipped to buy this after already owning the trade paperbacks. The book is amazing and is a must read to batman fans new and old and I can't recommend it enough. However, it must be said not to buy from the seller I got my copy from. These books are expensive. And to alot of people they are collectable items that go in shelves to be displayed. And that's why it's so frustrating to open a completely undamaged box and still find dented corners. It's unacceptable to have these collectable items become a lucky dip on whether you'll get a damaged item or not. I do have to admit, when I messaged the seller to let them know, they got back to me in a day or two. And I was given the option to either get a replacement or a 15% refund as compensation only coming up to £7 with the price I paid. The only reason the second option was even made was because the book is that heavy that it'd cost more than my refund to send it back for the replacement. And there reason for the damage was transit even though the box was prestine. Oh or it could have been "mishandling in the warehouse" meaning that they would have known that this book was damaged and they still decided to send it.So here I am. Sat with my damaged book and still waiting for my 15% refund. Get this book, it's amazing. Just get it from somewhere other than here. The extra money you spend to get it from a different website is well worth having a book in an acceptable condition.

Immense but engaging.
I had some debate about giving this five stars. In truth, the only real downfall is the size, but even that is easily defended. (Personally, I might have made this two omnibuses, but I understand the temptations of having everything in one binding). Other than that, everything is in impeccable standard. The paper quality seems fine, and of course the stories are engaging. I have yet to experience any substantial binding issues, but it does feel easily susceptible at times. Don’t let that put you off buying, though. These stories are honestly some of my favourites, and I’d argue they’re must-reads for any batman fan at some point. As other people have already said, the size can definitely get in the way, but if the price is cheap enough, it’s well worth buying. Just make sure you have a desk at hand to read it. If you do decide to purchase, I’m sure you’ll be spellbound by Sale’s gothic artwork, and Loeb’s rich storytelling. Perhaps this was a ramble review, but in summary, I do recommend the book for any fans of graphic novels, comics, or just noir storytelling in general. It’s terrific from hefty cover to cover.

Huge
Looks great. I have yet to read it all - it is huge, in fact I can barely lift it, so a challenge to read in bed, or even in an armchair. It's great to have all these related stories together and although I know Long Hallowean the other stories are new to me. I'm a big fan of JL & TS collaborations, so I know this will be good, and having spent 45 minutes or so thumbing through the thing when it arrived, my appetite is whetted.

Couldn't put it down, when I could lift it!
This book is absolutely massive. All of the content is great though. This book was recommended to me by several people online and I was not disappointed
