Pimento Wood Chips

Make jerk chicken like back home. I soak the chips then put them in a metal tube on the grill with my chicken. The flavor is awesome. The best thing is when u are done and open the tube you can reuse the chips at least 2 more times. This is worth the money if you are looking for an authentic taste of Jamaican jerk chicken/pork on the grill.

I’ve made jerk chicken in the oven and it tasted good but making it on the grill, (3 hours for thighs and 4 hours for the whole chicken at 230 degrees) these wood chips made a HUGE difference. On the website it says this bag is enough for about 20 meals so I divided it up and my whole family was impressed at the flavor.

Update: Tried using a smaller amount of chips and the result was definitely better. While it is pricey for what you get, I will be using small amounts when making jerk so it will last a while. Upgraded my review from 3 to 4 stars, reserving 1 star because of price.-----------------------------------------------Pricey for what you get. Live in S Fla, know "jerk" well. I'd not used Pimento wood before, used a handful of wet chips for jerk pork, did NOT like the flavor, way too strong. Next time I'll use a small amount and will update this post.We have a tree here, the Bottle Brush tree. I have tried it in the past and this Pimento wood smoke smells and tastes just like the BB wood... ?If you like smoking/grilling jerk its worth trying.

As a frequent visitor to Jamaica, I love real jerk chicken. With these Pimento wood chips I can get the authentic taste of jerk chicken. If you don't like these in your smoker, you don't know what your doing. I currently have some jerk chicken on the grill as I type. My mouth is already watering. Awesome chips!

They are very small. You’ll need to soak them before using them to smoke jerk chicken or they’ll burn it up instantly (Kamodo Big Joe). Still nice flavor. I know the wood only grows in Jamaica and I’m happy to pay a premium but it wouldBe nicer if they sold bigger chunks.

I was extremely disappointed when I opened the bag to find mainly splinters and wood dust. The description said "chips" so I was not expecting chunks of wood, but would thought it would contain pieces larger than a US Quarter. Fortunately, I have a solid metal tray that I could put on top of the heat distribution plate in my smoker. Otherwise, these "chips" would have fallen into burner. Tray or not, these things were so small that they burned up within the first 45 minutes of smoking. My neighbors may have enjoyed the brief scent of Pimento smoke, but the meat did not benefit from it. This is definitely NOT worth the ~$30 that I paid for them!

It’s a small bag of wood but it’s authentic pimento wood. If you want real jerk chicken you need pimento wood to create the flavor. So many people think jerk chicken is just about spice but it isn’t. Great product. I’ve purchased it twice so far.

Good product but way too expensive. I would look for an alternative instead of paying the asking price for this product.
