Make a statementโand smash the patriarchy, one stitch at a timeโwith these 40 feminist-themed cross-stitching patterns! Crafty activists will love this snarky book with its irreverent, vintage-inspired cross-stitch patterns. Whether you want to proudly announce to the world that you're a nasty woman or remind others that a woman's place is in the revolution, youโll find edgy slogans, sharp one-liners, and cheeky images that make fabulous wall art or wonderful handmade gifts. An illustrated basics section will get you started, with information on materials, tools, techniques, and framing your finished pieces. Review: Highly Recommend - I love this book and Stephanieโs work! This is the first book I bought when I started cross-stitching less than a year ago and it has been a perfect introduction to the craft. The patterns are clear and easy-to-read. I also really love the difficulty scale for each pattern that allows you to choose projects based on your skill level. The tips, tricks, and resources Rohr shares also help to navigate cross-stitch more effectively. My favorite part has been bringing these gorgeous and affirming designs to life, and gifting them. Iโm slowly making my way through each pattern in the book and loving every minute! Review: Too much fun! - Very nice, good for beginners and experienced stitchers. I *love* Rosie the Riviter! I'm so happy to see her included. I highly recommend you print a physical copy at a slightly larger than life-size. On real paper. I know, what a dinosaur! But you can easily mix and match motifs from various patterns by using the original cut and paste method. For example, I did this with another great x-stitch book, "The Crosstitchers Bible." I I liked the frame of one design, plus I needed a couple extra lines on my sampler to fit the frame I wanted to use. So I went to the copy shop and messed with scissors and tape until I had a clean, usable copy to tuck into my stitchery tote. It cost me a couple of dollars, as I used free ษcolor copies, but it was well worth it. I have a sign on my wall that says, "We are the daughters of the Witches you didn't burn." I think it will look nice with some blue flowers from this book. Maybe the sunflowers? Copy Shop, here I come!!! Nice to use yourself, give away as a gift, or to make gifts. Worth buying or borrowing. Highly recommend. Readable and well illustrated. 9/10 Unicorns ๐ฆ ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฆ

Fantastic cross stitch book
I adore this novel. Itโs full of pretty, simple cross stitch patterns. They are all updated for our time, and apropos to todayโs societal issues. The how-to section is thorough and concise. The only people who donโt like this book are whiny snowflakes who cry whenever anything changes (for the better), in order to be more relevant to the times, or pearl clutchers who faint at the sight of the โf-wordโ. (There are maybe four swear words in this novel, to be stitched in these patterns. But since we are grown ups and can handle these โnaughtyโ words, that shouldnโt be a problem, should it...?). Me and my family love the patterns in this novel, as do all my stitchy friends!

Great designs!
I've already made 3 projects from the book as I got back into cross-stitching over the summer. I am a huge fan of this book! I had checked it out from the local library and then I just had to order my own copy! Very nice hardcover book with full-color charts and terrific and encouraging instructions for beginners. Projects from easy to advanced are rated with helpful tips and inspiration. Most designs are stitched on 14-count (or 16-count) white Aida cloth. And yes, some of them have adult words. Let them hear you Roar!

Craftivism Cross Stitching At Its Best
Comprehensive writing and instructions on cross stitching, from getting started on a project to framing the finished piece. Ms. Rohr offers lots of helpful tips in the opening and closing chapters of the book. The 40 patterns she has created hold true to the aesthetic that she has upheld in her Etsy shop over the years. They are fun and thoughtful pieces covering a wide range of ideas and feminist expression. Everyone will find something to love about this book and the pieces to be created, whether a person new to the art form of cross stitching or a seasoned stitcher.

Lovely Patterns
I'm excited to try out some of the patterns, they look quick enough to get me back in the cross stitching habit. I also appreciate the information in the beginning about the different stitches. The only draw back in the information on one of the patterns. It's a quote from A Midsummer Night's Dream, "Though she be but little, she is fierce". Unfortunately they misrepresented this as being a description of Helena, when it is in fact Helena describing Hermia. Oh well, it's not the end of the world. This pattern was the reason I bought the book, and thought that was funny. Doesn't detract from the patterns, so don't let it stop you from buying!

Great for beginners!
I bought this after having only completed one cross stitch project and I am so glad I got this book! The designs are so cute, and they're sorted by difficulty level. I love this since I had a hard time judging patterns that would be too difficult for me before. I also love that the creator tells you which size hoop or frame to use for each project. I've completed two already and I can't wait to work through them all. Some for me and some for friends!

Love the projects!
I haven't made any of the projects yet, but I love the choices and already have a list of what to make next! This is very much a liberal-craftivist book, but I think that's a great thing and some of the quotes are so inspiring. I particularly love the 'nevertheless she persisted' and 'strong women: may we know them, may we be them, may we raise them' designs. I'm making the latter for a friend of mine who just had a little girl as my very first pick from the book. While most of the projects are pretty standard and expected (feminist/political quote with a pretty floral border), there are several unexpected standouts that are more interesting, including my favorite - a really detailed portrait style Rosie the Riveter I plan to make once I get a little more experience in cross-stitching!

Great designs, great messages
I like every single design in this book, and that is rare for a cross-stitch book! I'm stitching the one from the front cover at the moment, instructions are clear and the patterns easy to read. The accompanying blurb with each design is educational and entertaining. If you're looking around for subversive cross-stitch designs and are torn between this one and others on the market - buy this.
