It works as Advertised or Better!
This is the best grabber tool I've come across a few yrs back & have used them for many years to date! I had a tree that makes gum balls that are sticky this last year & used this grabber as my main tool. It broke one day so I used a few of my other grabbers I had purchased in the past & did not like any of them as well as my broken VIVE grabber! I'm now 83 yrs of age & hard to please so I ordered two more of these VIVE while I can still get them!! Then I seen that VIVE made two changes in the new ones that will prevent how my old one probably broke, but I feel I got my moneys worth since I had used it so many times over the years & I also pick up flower petals that fall off in our plant room & it does very well with delicate items like that with the NEAT SOFT rubber on the pickup fingers. I own five of these I keep in different rooms since I'm old & don't like to go fetch them when needed. Perfect length for me & the wife also. Perfect for the young & old I'd say!!

Great when you have post-op restrictions.
Well-made. Being able to rotate the grippers is very useful.

A Great Help At a Good Price For Seniors and Handicapped
UPDATE 2/7/2020: My rating of this tool (the Extra Long 32โ), is still 5 stars. However, I thought it appropriate to post a warning, which Iโll call a โDuhh?โMoment. Iโm a pretty common sense type of a guy, and itโs saved me from a lot of stupid moves over the years, as any moron would know better. Accordingly, I label myself the moron. And I did know better but did it anyway. Did what? I broke this dandy little teacher grabber. Iโve come to the incredible conclusion that this tool is not a cane - and if you try to use it as one, it will likely break. While itโs an essential device to those like me, who have a physical condition or handicap that limits their ability to bend and/or reach, this reacher-grabber is very, very handy to have around. But, remember that it is made to be light. So, itโs made out of plastic! And it will break if you use it as a cane and push yourself up with it! Duhh! Now I have to buy another one. ORIGINAL REVIEW: This is the third one of these I have purchased. None have worn out or broken but we have a big two story house and it is much easier on me to have one handy. They are great for โgrabbingโ most things, unless they are large or heavy. They enable me to do things for myself and hold on to as much of a normal life as I can for as long as I can. Iโm a 72 year old Type 1 diabetic (with extensive nerve and tissue damage in my legs and feet due to the complications of diabetes) and more and more nerve damage in my hands. This makes it hard to walk and balance, causing falls that have further damaged my knees. The slowly increasing nerve damage in my hands means I frequently drop things. Thus, bending over to pick up what I have dropped results in difficulty retrieving anything, especially small items. It also makes it even more likely that I will lose my balance and fall again. I also have osteoarthritis that makes it painful to bend or stand on my tiptoes when reaching up to get or put items on a shelf. Itโs a simple design but very, very helpful at a reasonable price.

โSturdy so far, bought for safetyโ
โI use a pickup stick because of a bad hip, and Iโve had a couple break when I had to use them to keep from falling. This one just arrived but looks well built and sturdy enough to save my head without breakingโadding a small magnet for picking up coins would be a nice touch.โ only 4 stars if save my head and hold ill be back give it 5 star

Best Reacher Grabber ever
This is my 3rd Vive Reacher Grabber 32 inch. I have tried several different grabbers and this one is the best and will pick up anything and everything big or small.

Seriously, this is THE one!
Shop no further! This is the best grabber tool I've ever had in my hands. I've actually owned this for 3+ years and recently broke it...totally my fault. But the customer service and lifetime warranty? Outstanding!! I called to see if they could tell me how to fix it and they said not to bother and another one would be in the mail. I received it in 5 days. This is SO much better than the other tool I owned years ago - that thing was useless unless it was a bulky item I was picking up. I literally couldn't pick up my cell phone with it because the pincher part had a decent sized flare to the tips so the pincher didn't come together until it was fully closed. So, for instance, you couldn't grip a dime - it would squirt right out or miss it altogether. Avoid that design if you see it. There are no "Cons" to this tool. When I broke it I had successfully picked up a 10 lb hand weight off the floor and raised it up to my hand to carry it back where it belonged. Excellent! Then I decided I would pick up a handled filing box that weighed about 7 lbs - however when I rotated it to my hand, all the weight slipped onto one of the prongs at an awkward angle and pulled the gripper apart. It didn't actually break, just pulled the peg out of the hole that holds the two sides of the gripper part together and I couldn't stuff my fingers inside the tool to hook it back together. Lesson learned! Thanks to the amazing customer service, my lesson was not a painful one. Ok, to the "pros": The Vive 32" grabber is AWESOME! I recently picked up a very small, very crumbly piece of cheddar cheese without breaking it or dropping it. Just before writing this, I dropped a spa test strip on the hardwood floor and the Vive grabber was able to pick that up on the first try! After giving the dime example above, I decided to toss one onto the hardwood floor as well - yep! Picked it up with no effort or repositioning required. Very secure and simple process. I highly recommend this to anyone!

Pretty good, may need modification for reliability
The product listing states there is an updated 2019 model and I purchased mine in 2017, so I suspect there may be differences for your use of this grabber, but mine broke after having it for a few years and I figured out why and how to make it more robust and wanted to share. I suspect most low-priced grabbers like this may have similar weak points in their design and I think I would buy this one again. First - here's how it works (referencing annotations on the drawing I made) 1. You pull the trigger (1) next to the handle 2. Inside the handle, pulling the trigger pivots the handle to move the Trigger Wire Coupling (2). The wire (3) then pulls because it has a small ferrule on the end of the wire, locking it in place inside the handle. 3. This pulls the wire inside the arm which goes down to the pincers in the grabber end. 4. Inside the grabber is a spring(4) which pushes a grabber wire coupling (5) back out and opens up the pincers (7) 5. But when the trigger is pulled and the wire contracts, it pulls a complicated - and weak - pincers coupling pivot (6) that provides the interface between the grabber wire coupling (5) and the pincers (7) so that the pincers close when the grabber wire coupling is pulled toward the handle (by pulling the trigger) and opens when the spring(6) pushes the grabber wire coupling back out to the tip of the grabber. As mentioned in the parts description above, on mine the pincers coupling pivot(6) is what broke. This is a small and complicated little unit that comprises multiple pieces of plastic to pull each pincer when the grabber wire coupling(5) moves. If either of these break, one pincer will stop moving, which yields the grabbers broken. What I'm doing is taking apart the grabber-end to replace those parts with a zip tie or something else that is simpler and stronger and will repair the pincers. Here are three things I wish were changed in the construction that would make this more reliable: 1. Build with some screws rather than rivets so that the grabber end could more easily be repaired. I'd rather spend $20-25 on one of these that can be repaired vs. $18 on one that breaks and needs to be thrown away (or is really hard to repair, like this one is) 2. The wire could pretty easily be made serviceable. The ferrules on the ends that attach the wire to the trigger wire coupling and grabber wire coupling make it impossible to service. This could be replaced with part of a bike brake wire pretty easily. 3. The pincer coupling pivot is cheap and prone to break. This, too, could pretty easily be designed for ~$0.10 more cost and last longer. Overall though these can be made to work and seems like the overall parts and construction can last a long time. Out of the box, though, like you'll see with many of the top reviews, it will probably break sooner than you expect.

Good quality
This is a good product. Well designed and built. I pick up a lot of trash on the local trail system every year and I am look forward to using this one during the coming season to save myself a ton of bending over and to keep myself safe.

Very versatile and useful
Not yet quite at the age where I need this for day to day stuff. Bought it to retrieve card and other objects fallen down the back of a tumble dryer and balloons deposited by grandchildren behind a heavy TV, both of these are fairly inaccessible due to layout of shelves etc. It works very well. It is sturdy, and has also proved really good for reaching across a bed to draw curtains, for reaching under a desk to retrieve lost objects and even for reaching over a fence to pick apples (gently) from my neighbours' trees, avoiding them falling on the ground and bruising! (With their permission, I hasten to add!) I deliberately didn't buy the cheapest grabber on offer as you learn through life that you get what you pay for, but this seems of reasonable quality and build. A very useful purchase.
