St John Ambulance Dual Head Stethoscope Red

I'm not a medical person. I bought this item to help me identify the source of a mysterious 'click' that kept occurring in an area of the sitting room, possibly behind a wall (so I thought) in my house. Have you ever tried to put your ear up against a ceiling to source a weird noise? Well, with this item, you can. With this great little product, I quickly identified the source of the problem as an electrical appliance in the room - and not behind the wall or in the ceiling at all. Saved me a fortune in builders' costs.

When you consider some can cost well into 3 figures these do what they are sold to do. The marking down for ease of use is solely down to the way you select which head to use. Unlike as claimed by another review both heads are not active you select the side in use by turning the head on the tube coming out of the head. Many stethescopes have a slight bend in the tube to indicate which side of the head is in use (the angle lifts the tube away from the patient when the active side is applied to the skin). As this tube is straight you have to look inside the domed side into the to see the port open and close as you turn the tube, only possible in good light which might not be available in every situation. However as almost everyone taps the drum to check the stethescope is working you quickly find out if the head is on the wrong side, the click detent is positive so you know when the port is aligned correctly.

As a student nurse one of the things I have to be competent at is manual blood pressure. A stethoscope is require to do this, and although I had one with the kit I bought, I wanted an extra one, as in a lot of cases the freebies they give you tend to not work as well. Anyway this worked brilliant. It did exactly what I needed it to. The sounds I am listening for are clear and it seems to work as well as the expensive ones I have used on a hospital ward. I am very pleased with it.

Many reviewers have complained that they can't hear a heartbeat. I think this will be because the quality of manufacture is so poor that it isn't air tight. You may need more than a finger over a hole to get it working. It is also very uncomfortable in the ear because the silicon ear pieces are hard, the insertion angle is wrong and the spring is too strong. The "instructions" (not sure that four badly worded sentences on a slip of paper warrants that name) explain that the head connection tube can be rotated to connect the tube to either of the two heads. It is wobbly, leaky, hard to turn and there is no indication as to the correct position. After liberal use of blue tac and a lot of strong arm bending I had something that just about worked and wasn't too painful to wear. This stethoscope would be ok for fancy dress parties etc but anything else and I think you would be wasting your money. You are paying for a toy and that is what you will get.

Bought this to try to hear our babies heartbeat as we heard at this stage of pregnancy it can be heard with a stethoscope instead of spending lots of money on a doppler. It is a fine product but not particularly powerful for the reasons we wanted it. It does pick up our heartbeats well enough however. Will maybe be more useful in the future.

One of my cats has developed a heart condition recently. My vet said I should monitor his heart rate, hence I turned to Amazon to locate a stethoscope. This one in red is easy to spot across the room and it works a treat without frightening my cat. With the help of this stethoscope, medication and dietary food my cats heart beat is now back on track, thank you.

Needed a stethoscope for a Halloween costume and it ended up being cheaper and quicker to get this than anything from a fancy dress store. It arrived quickly and did its job perfectly. It proved popular with everyone at the party who had loads of fun listening to each other's heartbeat! Can't review it for any professional use, but it was perfect for what I needed!

Purchased the stethoscope to use on my pregnant wife. Unable to hear baby's heartbeat or any movement. Had more joy putting my ear to her tummy! Used it on myself and could barely hear my own heartbeat. Cheap purchase but not worth it in my opinion

He probado con este esteroscopio y con otro que tenemos, y en comparacion, éste se escucha poquisimo.No me ha gustado.
