I have been looking at these for a couple years and finally decided to purchase it a month ago. I have used it five times so far, typically after sunset but not in total darkness. Compared to what I used to use (a handheld light) I like this much better. I do most of my paddling on Lake Erie, usually alone, and often go offshore quite a bit. This light is bright and I'm more confident I am seen by passing boats. It's also virtually loss-proof, as it has a spring clip which is fastened to a D-Ring on the back of my SUP, with a bungee cord tightened to further secure it. It's a bit pricey, but it can improve your safety on the water. It is also a high-quality item that is purchased once and I expect it will last for as long as I am an active paddler. With the days getting shorter I'm getting a lot of use from it and glad I made the purchase.

Use primarily for winter paddling at night in a location that does have marine traffic. Excellent design, great visibility with 360 degree illumination. Important to sit this away from you to increase your chances of being seen by other boats whilst paddling. Attaches easily to the deck lines/shock cord and it does self right after a capsize/roll. The light does not impact night vision of fellow paddlers - the diffuser is not clear but white so it gives a softer illumination as such Those sea paddlers who have seen this light in action have placed orders for themselves!! Important not to under estimate the importance of being adequately equipped when night paddling or paddling at dusk/dawn and this light is one piece of essential equipment that you should have.

Easy to attach and works great with my SUP. Better than the one REI sales. Pay the extra $10.00, worth it.
