Canon Powershot G10 (Magic Lantern Guides) Paperback – April 7, 2009

Camera owners' manuals are generally hard to use, and the G10 manual is no exception. This Magic Lantern Guide is very readable, and structured so that you can read and play with the camera as you go. The instructions are very easy to understand, and not only tell you what to do, but also why you would do it. I strongly recommend it, not only to current G10 owners, but also to prospective G10 owners. (It's cheaper to buy the book than it is the camera.)

I ordered this book after experiencing frustration navagating through the product manual that came with my G10 camera. I have no regrets whatsoever. I was able to sit with the book open and camera in hand and work my way through each page. It is clearly written, adequately illustrated in color, and small enough to carry in the camera bag.

The small owners manual gives you a ton of information with the assumption you know everything they are talking about. The Magic Lantern Guides give you a more concise understanding of the functions of these digital cameras. Not only the how to but why. After all digital cameras are not only cameras but computers. Navigating each digital cameras program can be a challenge. They are not all the same and the transition from film to sensor can be confusing. This is the second Guide I have purchased and I am sure it won't be the last. It is a must have item in my book. R Wynn

Toss your original manual and buy this if you want a carry along guide. It is vastly superior to the one that comes with your G10. Maybe not the absolute best guide, but it contains more info than you will ever need in an easy to use format! Get it!

I'm very pleased to recommend Magic Lantern Guides: Canon Powershot G10. I've used my G10 many times over the years referring to the manual that comes with the camera. I'm getting older so my eye sight isn't what it used to be. Having Magic Lantern Guides: Canon Powershot G10 with it's larger size and many pictures is like having a pro walk you through some features I didn't even know I had. It's become my new favorite book!

I received this book several days ago and already I love it. The small size is convenient to bring along on trips and it elaborates much better than the manual on how to use the G10. There's plenty of color photos in the book as well. Highly recommended.

From all of the reviews I read before buying the G10 guide, I really expectedmore from the guide, but I found that it contained little more than theinstruction manual that came with the camera. Disappointed.

If you own the canon G10, This is the best investment that you can make. Throw the instruction manual that comes with the camera away. Allinstructions are easy to understand. This book will make you an educated user of the Canon G10. I purchased one for myself and one for my brother. Excellent instruction manual.

OK. Canon come in for some stick for not including a printed manual with the camera. The book comes in for some stick on being, in part, just like the manual. Neither of these arguments are justified in my opinion. If Canon had included a printed manual, I would not have bought this superb book and would have been worse off for not having it. The book is bound to be, in part, like the manual as it covers the same thing. What else could be expected.The real point is that the book goes beyond what a manual would do. It is superbly illustrated with relevant pictures and is written in a style that makes it very accessible. So thank you Canon for giving me a pointless PDF file as by spending very little money I now have a reference piece on Canons superb G10 way beyond anything that could ever have come with it.

I am rather a user of a non digital Nikon - and I belong to the "offline generation". In that respect I was looking for a handy booklet that I can also take with me, when eg being with the G10 on vacation.In a nutshell, the booklet delivers against its description and against my expectations. It gives a pretty crisp overview on the key functions and some tips - exactly what I was looking for !Ich nutze eher meistens eine analoge Nikon - und ich gehöre zur "Offline Generation" (im deutschen Klartext: für mich sind Manuals auf Disk und als .pdf eine Zumutung - ich hätte gerne für die Kamera ein paar Euro mehr gezahlt, wenn ein gedrucktes Manual dabei gewesen wäre). Wie dem auch sei, ich hatte nach einem Kleinen Buch gesucht, dass mir beim Nachschlagen der Key Features auf die Sprünge hilft - wenn ich z.B. im Urlaub bin.Das Buch erfüllt seine Beschreibung und meine Erwartungen. Es gibt einen knappen, aber ausreichenden Überblick über die Funktionen und Menuführung der Kamera. Genau das hatte ich gesucht !
