Def Tech Quality, Great Sound, Low Price
My existing home theater system consists of a set of Definitive Technology ProCinema 600 speakers paired with a Martin Logan subwoofer. As my new house was pre-wired for surround sound, the ProCinema rear surrounds didn't have a proper place for installation resulting in my choice of the ceiling mounted DI 5.5R's.The installation was a breeze and took only a few minutes to have the speakers wired and installed in my ceiling. I was immediately impressed by well the speaker grills hid the speakers. Most of the family didn't even see them installed in the ceiling! After re-running the calibration process on my Pioneer Elite receiver to adjust for the new surround speakers, I played several scenes from various movies in which I was familiar with the surround effects. The DI 5.5R's supply plenty of clean, clear bass and match well with the rest of the Definitive speakers in my surround system. Whether playing music in surround mode or watching a movie, these speakers are well worth the price for the high quality of sound. I would definitely recommend these speakers.

UPDATE : Maybe I'm spoiled
I see all the reviews about great sound...and I agree somewhat but "where's the bass?!!" I don't know... maybe I'm just spoiled with all my other speakers (LCR SL&SR) are Def Tech's Studio Monitor speakers. So I got these for the 8th&9th Atmos/DTS channel of my 5.1.2 surround. The clarity of sound is outstanding, but I've got absolutely no bass at all. I tried swapping out with the SL&SR channels which are SM45s and also have 5.25" drivers, and nothing! ??? All highs like they have built in high pass filter.(or low pass, whichever). I even calculated the inside box dimensions, length and diameter of the port in my SM45s and built 2 boxes to put over the the new DI5.5Rs and still nothing. Only mids and highs. Do all ceiling speakers suffer this problem or did I get 2 duds with the same issue simultaneously?UPDATE: 2/25/18 from 2 to 5 Stars ....So I bought an integrated amp for another room (using MusicCast to link with HT sys.) and I decided to use this 2 ch. amp to compare individual speakers while waiting on other stuff to arrive. Well when i plugged these Def Tech Ceiling speakers into this amp.... WOW There's that bass! Now understand, its bass a decent pair of 5-1/4" bookshelf speakers would put out.. not window rattling, but good balanced music bass. So what happened? 2 things... 1- The Yamaha rx-v681's height/presence config was set as 'small', but even when set to 'Large' there was still very little bass, just impotent compared to the other channels. And 2 is Break-In, these were hours old when I wrote the original reveiwSo in conclusion . With a quality Amplifier that puts out full range power, these sound Very very good. I would not hesitate to put these all over the house, garage shop, patio... wherever.

5R In-ceiling speakers are much better then all of them
Must say, I tried speakers from Energy, Polk, Cambridge Audio and Boston and these Def Tech Di 5.5R In-ceiling speakers are much better then all of them! I have these in the ceiling as my surround speakers in a 5.1 system and they do a wonderful job during movies and music. For there size they are very strong and loud speakers. In fact Def Tech told me not to go any bigger then these 5.5R's for surround speakers. My ceilings are only a little over 7ft high and they sit just behind the couch. I put the Db switch in the middle setting and pointed the tweeters to the back walls to reflect to the seating area and they sound awesome. They are built well and are a breeze to install. They can handle a lot of power to. My Audyssey set them to 90Hz which is good for this size speaker. Can't say anything bad about these speakers.

Very Satisfied. Nice range and sound quality
Bought a pair of these for use in a kitchen that is also open to a small dining room and living room. I did a fair bit of research and shopping around and these seemed like the best value for the price. Definitely happy with my choice. The sound quality is great and their range seems to be pretty good. I could see why some people might still want a sub to further the low end range, but these are perfect for us. The install was very easy and straight forward... No surprises. The magnetic covers are nice for quick adjustments.

it was easy to tell they are crisper and have more punch
These are the only non-Paradigm speakers in my 5.1.4 setup. I needed 2 more (front) ceiling speakers. During the Audyssey set-up on my Denon AVR-X4400H, it was easy to tell they are crisper and have more punch. The LG OLED TV Dolby Atmos demos are amazing! I never thought I’d ever hear theater quality sound in my family room. The rain falling overhead. Wow!
