The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket, and Related Tales (Oxford World's Classics)

A good read by Poe
I would say that the characters are really more than just one-dimensional, though they're not very deep. The various circumstances within the story are what moves it and those are very well detailed and occasionally pretty graphic, particularly for its time. It's definitely an enjoyable read complete with mutiny, cannibalism, and the discovery of new civilizations.Poe, and this story in particular, has clearly been a signifcant influence on modern and contemporary writers. In particular, H.P. Lovecraft pays homage in his story "At the Mountains of Madness."I would highly recommend this story for any teen - adult. The book also includes a collection of some of Poe's short works, notably "The Pit and the Pendulum."

Wondrous stories, terribly proof edited
A sad tribute to both Edgar Allan Poe and Jules Verne indeed. Texts are plagued with all sorts of errors, typos, misspellings, and what you have. Needs serious proof reading and editing. Not suitable for sale as yet...

Three Writers, but One Pym
Actually I was reading H.P. Lovecraft' s At the Mountains of Madness which references Edgar Allan Poe' s The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym as a major component. This led me to read Poe' s original work which in turn led me to this double work with Jules Verne' s sequel with a twist to Poe' s only novel. Please read all three works in the same order I did for an excellent treat.

Some classic Poe suspense but story loses its way half way through. Prob should have been a short story not full novel.

Boring
Boring, pretentious, and unstructured. I am aware that Poe wrote it only for money, but this Utopian combination of Robinson Crusoe and Symzonia is extremely long and tedious to read.

Best novel ever
I do not love novels really and mostly I only get turned on by classics, but this is by far the masterpiece of all novels in that genre! 100% must have if you are a fan of ALL of Poe or just want to read a very special novel!

Defective Kindle version
The Kindle version is defective. There are no paragraph indentations or line breaks throughout the volume, including the stories. It's a shame, since the editor, Gerald Kennedy, is a fine scholar of Poe and of American literature generally. I recommend that customers who are interested in a good text of *The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym* buy the paperback version of this Oxford World Classics edition.

The poor review does not have anything to do with EAP's work being abysmal, it's great in fact. The reason is that I paid around five hundred rupees , and what I got was a book which was old and looked as if it has been previously used by someone else. Over that, on peeling off the price sticker, I found another sticker beneath it which said that the price of the book is 210. The sticker had the label of Oxford University Press.
