Radius Garden Root Slayer Soil Knife

This is definitely the single most useful hand tool I have ever had for the garden. It easily digs a hole to plant a new plant, or quickly gets under a week to get it all down to the roots. I have had one for several years and we had to buy a second one because we both always wanted that particular tool. This is a well made tool that should last for years. 100% satisfied with my purchase and have often recommended it to others.

I have several root slayer tools. My favorite is the Trowel. It seems like I use it all the time when gardening, especially weeding. My wife likes to use it, too, so we’re always asking the other to hand over the Trowel. I ordered the Soil Knife for just that. Now we each have a tool we can use. Plus, the Soil Knife is like having half a Trowel and its smaller size offers different applications, especially in tight areas. It fits well in the hand. And, like all Root Slayer tools, it is extremely well made from heavy steel that’s not going to bend or break when you use it to lever or pry. Be careful! The split end is sharp.

Very sturdy while light weight. Easily cuts into the dirt and uproots weed root systems. The narrow blade is much more precise than a regular garden shovel. It quickly became my GoTo weeding tool.

Pros: Well made- not noticing tarnishing. Sharp- serrated edge isn't razor sharp but it's worked well with roots, the top section that forms a v is very sharp. Hefty- has some weight to it so you can actually use the handle as (a small amount of) leverage without worrying about snapping the handle off. Cons: My only real complaint is that I haven't had it long enough to truly know it's durability. I suspect it will last a long time but time will tell.

I have an extensive garden with a variety of plants both in large concrete boxes and containers. I usually struggle with the tomato plant roots , so I ordered this knife based on the reviews. Well all I can say is it’s amazing and does the job. I did not know how I was going to tackle the roots from lemon verbena. But to my shock the knife came through.

I wish the end of the knife was pointed, I can’t use it on hard soils because it doesn’t penetrate the soil. Otherwise is a sturdy knife, good size.
