EXCELLENT BOOK . . . for the most part
I have to admit that since it took two months to receive this book, I had considered canceling my order on more than several occasions. However, am I glad I didn't!! What a beautiful and informative book! The photographs and the designs are all sensational. The projects looked difficult to me at first, but once I looked at the clear blow-by-blow photographs of each step, I have been never been less intimidated, nor so excited, to get my hands into a project! I LOVED the mold-making lessons on how to make sterling silver accents out of PMC clay if I wanted to add them to the necklaces and bracelets. I'm so pleased to find that I can make an entire piece of fine art jewelry without any man-made additions, nor the use of glue, and many times without any soldering. I'm thrilled, and my biggest regret is that I'm marking up this beautiful book with underlines, written notes, and stickies; it is definitely a working book for me.**Although I stand by the above review written 11/06, I felt that I needed to add to it hoping that if there is a book reprint, the authors will update what I consider one serious breech of instruction clarity. Now that I've tried some of the projects, what I found was that none of the wire amounts necessary were listed. I had to determine the amount of wire for each project by hunting through the body of instructions until I located the wire length and the cuts, and only THEN could I calculate how much wire I needed. This process is repeated over and over again depending on how many gauges of wire are needed for the project. Frankly, it's irritating. Although, to be fair, all the wire information is there to complete each project, you really have to hunt for it.In a future reprint, it would be VERY helpful for the amount of wire required for each project to be in the supply list along with each of the wire gauges. Brief instructions on how to change the size of the project through wire length adjustments would be sufficient for those users who might want to adapt it, but for the vast majority . . . specific wire amounts given up front would make it much easier to complete a project.

Great tutorials - beautiful projects!
I came across this book in the library and loved it so much I bought it. Great information, explicit pictorials, showing you step by step how to get the best results, including what mishaps you might run into and how to troubleshoot them. If you want to make incredible, totally professional looking jewelry this is one fabulous guide book.I particularly liked the beginners bracelet, once you make it in a couple of different versions maybe in cheap copper wire at the start, you are off and running. About a third of the book has more sophisticated projects that would be more interesting for anyone getting way deep into serious jewelry making and assumes skills and tools for soldering and other techniques. I doubt I will try these, but I did take away ideas from those projects as well. All in all a truly fine instruction book with beautiful project ideas, terrific tutorials presented in such a positive confidence inspiring way that you can't resist stretching your artistic abilities just a little bit more.

Detailed yet easy to follow
Beautiful detailed photos that show exactly what the written description says. Yhe written descriptions are very detailed but without being too wordy. The author tells you exactly what u need to do and how to do it. I have rarely read such a great, clear description of a jewelry making process.

A HOW-TO BOOK THAT SHOWS YOU HOW TO!!!
I was blown away with how helpful this book is! For example, there is a project (a domed cuff bracelet with soldered bead ends) that has 9 pages of clearly written instructions along with clear photographs to show you what every step of the way should look like! At the beginning of the project, there is a list of all the materials and tools that you will need to complete the project. I can't ask for anything more in a book. I've seen books that cost a lot more than this one that have 2-3 photos of instructions for each project! This book can bring along a Beginner jewelry-maker to an Advanced jewelry-maker with its excellent teaching methods. It is filled with gorgeous projects, and it was difficult to decide which one to try first! ENJOY! :)

A new twist on wire jewelry
The jewelry in this book is gorgeous and ultimately not that difficult to make. You will need to find some way to finish the clasps though as the braiding creates a non-conventional end which needs finishing. The book suggests PMC or soldering to accomplish this. There are only about three basic designs and then variations on the closure techniques. Its all very pretty and inspiring and much more classy that simple wire wrapping. You will have to do a little math too, to figure out how much wire you will need. Its a pretty book with a couple of very nice unique ideas upon which you can build once you get the hang of this technique.

You have to be ready!
It is a great book very nice detailed wire weaving. It's not for beginners. I'm new to wire weaving and it has metal clay involved(if you dont know what it is don't buy this book); since I'm new to wiring this book was not for me yet. But I'm keeping the book for when I get a little better and I'm ready to work with metal clay.

First quarter of the book is the only useful bit.
The only practical portions of this book are at the beginning where the authors provide excellent photos on how to do the braid. The rest of the book is filled with crafty projects, most of which aren't to the standards of a professional metalsmith. This is an interesting technique but with limited application in the professional world. To be fair though they probably had to figure out content that would complete a book and not be too off-putting to non-metalsmiths who fancy themselves budding jewelers so as to appeal to a broader audience. For the serious metalsmith, it's still well worth the price for instructions on the basic technique.

Gift for someone.
Got this for someone getting into jewelry making. She loves it! This book helped her understand twirling and finishing techniques. She made herself an ear cuff trying out some of what she was learning. People at work loved it and started asking her to make them some. Word got out and she is making alot of ear cuffs now.

Very limited
I was quite dissapointed when I got this book, the designs in it while very pretty are all the same weave over and over, it looks like it has lots of information but in fact it just has very detailed step by step pictures, for a complete beginner it would be good but not terribly exciting, for anyone who has already some experience of wire and or weaving, don't bother.

Silver soldering in abundance
It is a detailed book and I love love the projects, but it does involve a lot of 925 silver soldering , It is definitely for the more advanced. Hence the 4 stars. Lots of inspiration, but only one project that I would be able to do as a novice /intermediate jewelery maker.
