Like walking on water!
With the record snowfall levels we have been getting in NH this year, I have soft powder snow between 3 and 4 feet deep in my backyard. I have been contemplating buying snowshoes for the past few winters, but this deep snow gave me the motivation I needed to do the research and make a decision. When I learned about the Crescent Moon snowshoes, I was impressed by the reviews, awards, and overall approach to material selection and manufacturing process used by Crescent Moon.At first, I was concerned that the larger (10"x32") size would feel too cumbersome and I was looking more at snowshoes in the Gold 9 (9"x27") size. I am well within the weight range for the smaller snowshoes, but I found that the bindings are also smaller, only for up to size 11 boots. Since my boots are size 12, I went with these Gold 10s. Soon after the delivery, I was out the back door and strapping these on for my first steps with snowshoes. The bindings are everything everyone says they are in terms of ease of use and effectiveness. I had no trouble at all, walking with a very natural stride, only sinking in 2-3" in this fresh powder. It was like what I imagine walking on water would feel like. They did not feel at all large or cumbersome. I was even able to run without any difficulty - on snow that was not at all packed down, where when I tried walking without the snow shoes, I was sinking down with the snow almost to my chest.

Excellent snowshoes
I've been very pleased with these snowshoes so far. This is the first season I've had them, and so far I've put about 30 miles on them under varying conditions, though nothing too extreme. The construction seems to be good. Everything looked and felt great when the snowshoes arrived, and everything appears to be holding up without issue so far. I've been very pleased with the flotation of these shoes, finding them to be functional even in very fresh powder. The crampons provide good traction under any typical circumstances (though I haven't done any real "climbing" in these shoes). I also enjoy the fixed bindings, though I know some people can't stand that style. Personally, I think the fixed bindings enhance the flotation, and concerns that they "throw snow" on the back of your legs are overblown. My favorite aspect of these shoes is how easy the bindings are to manipulate, even with my thickest gloves on. My wife also bought a pair of snowshoes (Tubbs) at the same time that I purchased these, and though she loves her shoes, there is no contest when it comes to getting our shoes on and off. The Crescent Moon bindings are fast and easy. At the start of the trail I usually have my shoes on and end up standing around for a couple of minutes while my wife is adjusting her bindings.Overall I'd say this is a solid pair of snowshoes, and as an added bonus they're made in the USA by an environmentally friendly company.

High Quality USA Made Snowshoe
My wife and I rented snowshoes once and we were hooked. Quickly running the numbers, and not being a fan of driving around picking up and returning rental equipment we easily justified spending a little money on a nice set of snowshoes. These shoes are top quality. The anodized aluminum is beautiful and the webbing and bindings are top notch. These shoes are also very easy to get in and out of. People on the trails are always complementing on the quality, and for me the few extra bucks justified this purchase over the mass produced ones. One thing to note; pay attention to the sizing. I went a little bigger as I was carrying my daughter in the child carrier which was about 45 extra pounds. Now that I am no longer doing that, I wish I had the agility of the smaller size shoe. In short, a great find and a great US company. These will probably be the last snowshoes I will ever need.

A big step up from the Atlas snowshoes. No ...
A big step up from the Atlas snowshoes. No more stepping on the tails, do to the design taper. The Gold 10 has been worn more than a dozen times, on very steep slopes and steep traverses. They hold well, downhill they do slip a bit in fresh powder 2-3ft depth. Very normal for shoes in these conditions. Bindings straps hold well, fit a Sorel boot well and my 12 size mid weight hike shoe. I would buy again,USA made in Colorado

Newbie loves them.
We tried them out for the first time recently (our first time on snowshoes) and had a great time. They work and they are easy to get in and out of. I used the 30 inch versions and they fit quite large insulated boots just fine. I needed another form of exercise when the weather is bad and these make it much more fun to go long distances in deep snow.

Great shoes. Great bindings. Fantastic Grip.
These are not as light as my wife's Gold 15's, but the shape makes it very easy to pick up the pace and run. We do a lot of fast pace snowshoeing and these make it very easy.Great size. Great Shape. Excellent bindings. Fantastic grip in all directions.Best shoes I have tried so far!

great bindings
The work great! The bindings a very easy to use and they don't come loose. I can't say if the tapered end is better or not but they don't seem to get tangled up at all.

Run or not to run.
Walking great, running great with snow hitting your backside. Quality.

Not at all like the picture shown.
The snowshoes I received was not at all like the pair described on amazon. They are pretty cool but not what I was looking for. They will be good for a packed trail but provide very little floatation. If I had known what I was getting I would have tried to get Eva model instead of the Luna model that is obviously for women or children instead of 215lb man as stated on amazon. I am going to keep them, they will be OK on a packed trail but I had to go buy another pair at Canadian Tire to save the weekend.

The product exactly matches the description. Very satisfied with my purchase.
The Gold 10 Backcountry snowshoe by Crescent Moon is designed for off, or on-trail exploration. The platform provides excellent flotation but with the unique, tear drop shaped frame they are more maneuverable and athletic than traditionally shaped shoes for the perfect marriage of form and function. The Gold 10s have been built with a larger version of the award winning SPL binding to accommodate bigger sized footwear including most snowboard boots up to size 15. The Gold 10s also have an additional set of ice-grabbing stainless steel traversing claws mounted on the bottom of the binding strap to provide outstanding traction on steep terrain. Whether you are winter camping or looking for those secret couloirs to ride or shoe down, the Gold 10s are an outstanding choice for the backcountry. Make your outdoor experience the best it can be with a pair of Crescent Moons.
