They keep it dark.
I (90+) like to take PM naps in my reclined and these are just the ticket. Soft and easy on the skin, easy on and off, very comfortable, and yes keep the light out.

They were a disappointment!
I was quite disappointed with the product. It really didn't do what I thought it said it would do. They were rather more flimsy than I expected. They just didn't work well. They didn't fit well.
