Follow-on from the 1986 film 'FX - Murder by Illusion' in which Tyler (Bryan Brown) is now semi-retired. However, he is talked out of the quiet life after five years and into taking part in a police-sting operation by his girlfriend's ex-husband. When the latter is murdered, Tyler investigates, with the help of his old police partner (Brian Dennehy) and soon they are trapped in a dangerous web of murder, treachery and deceit.

Warning! Baked Beans Can Seriously Damage Your Health!
To be honest I would have awarded this four and a half stars, as it was slightly better than the original - not always a success with a sequel. The storyline was easier to follow, although with plenty of twists and turns, and one wonders exactly who are the baddies and who are the goodies. As usual Bryan Brown is a solid lead role. The special effects and sudden necessary improvisations were very clever, and it was pleasing to watch the action that was not all modern CGI. I found the dialogue easier to follow this time. Despite the age of the film, it was still good to watch.

Just as good as the first
First off, the clown does not get blown to bits, and the usage of it is very good. The plotline is fairly similar to the first, f/x man asked to help in a police operation, only for it to "go wrong". Both Brian and Bryan reprise their roles superbly and there are several humourous moments, especially in the way Rolly sets up his traps. If you liked F/X Murder by Illusion, you will like this too.

A trip down memory lane
When my daughter was a little girl she watched this film constantly. So a few months ago she asked for a new copy and it brought back so many good memories. On the hunt for stolen gold Roly and Leo are running from the police and the mob. The Clown in the helicopter and the supermarket scene brings all the good memories back.

Not bad
Not as innovative as FX (the first film) was, when it was released and I feel you have to have seen the first film to fully understand this one, it being the second film. However, still not bad at all and certainly worth watching for the various acting performances, which are pretty believable.

Collection Add-On
Always liked the original FX film and bought this to add to my collection. Bryan Brown and Brian Dennehy roll off each other very well again in this conclusion to FX Murder by Illusion. Enjoyable watch.

Great film
Brilliant film from start to finish. Both F/X films are well made and nicely filmed. Great story with good special F/X. Dennehy and Brown really jell together..
